A story about my friend Brandon26 total reviews

Wow, that is one fun tale. Just the other day, I looked at pictures of a friend's niece getting married, and no one had told me the groom was also female. Fortunately I didn't put my foot in my mouth. I really admire your friend for getting out of life what he wanted of it.

Thank you. You would never guess that Brandon had once been a woman. Even his voice was different. I guess they give them some kind of hormones to change them so completely.

This was an interesting true life story about a blacksmith, but so much more, a story of a life that was changed so Barb could become Brandon, who she was meant to be. Well written and I wish you luck in the contest.
cheers.

Thank you. Brandon is an exceptional person. We still stay in contact with one another. He will always be my friend.

This is an excellent story about someone who changed and yet was a friend as before. You did well in the way you accepted your friend's choices and admired him and all he accomplished. This is a well written story and one without judgement. I admire that.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. He was still the same person, whether he was Barb or Brandon. I still think of him as Barb at times.

What an incredible story you share about your friend Barbara/Brandon. He became a great farrier--got to admire people who do that job. I will trim my horses hooves, but shoeing is such an incredible art all its own.
Not only that, but Brandon went against the odds back in the day and followed his heart. Looks like it turned out well for him.
This is an excellent response to the prompt and well told.
Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you. Women farriers were almost unheard of back in those times, which is what he was when he started his career. Brandon was one of the best blacksmiths I ever knew. There was a great demand for his services, and it was a sad day when he retired.

I get it. Even in the movies they show women as not being able to handle such strong and willfill animals. Some of the best trainers, vets and farriers I know are women nowadays.

What a surprise that must have been for you. It's good to know that your friend Barb/Brandon is happy now, and has a life companion. I've always said there's someone for everyone. We just have to look for them.

Thank you. Brandon was a bit of a surprise to me. I will always think of him as Barb. I don't know why that is, it just is.

That's understandable.

What a fascinating story, I have never met anyone who has had a sex change, but I have heard of them.
Just one edit for this line:
Omigod! Barb, you are (you're) the Barb I went to school with?
Much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, and thanks for the grammar catch. I don't know how I missed that. I certainly know better. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Wow, what a story with a happy ending. At least Barb knew exactly what she wanted and went for it. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thank you. Brandon is a special person who lived in an era where sex of any kind was seldom mentioned. I know some people scorned him when he was still Barb and lived with other women.

It is one those things that suggests God makes mistakes, but there is no accounting for some things, and sex changes are the unanswered questions on my lips...along with other things, beautifully written, extraordinary story, good luck, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you. God did make a mistake in Brandon's case. He was born a female on the outside with male organs on the inside. The doctor who did the surgery said the pregnancy most likely started out as twins, and one absorbed the other. Brandon said he felt like he lived in the wrong body when he was Barb.

I hope you win your Contest! Brandon clearly is a strong person, being true to himself and living on Earth as I believe God knew him to be, before it was revealed to anyone here. Every word you wrote about your girl friend or Brandon, was consistent. There was a consistent sentiment of love and respect throughout. Since you were raised during the same time as Brandon was, and my older siblings were, I am aware that you must be a very special person, yourself. You didn't know about such things at first but once you knew, it didn't alter your impression of your friend of his very skilled and accomplished career. I never had horses and I learned from your detailed explanations, throughout your story.
Exceptional writing but I only had five stars! Best wishes!

Thank you. Brandon is a special person. He should have been born a twin. He was female on the outside, yet had male parts inside. He found this out when he had the sex-change operation. It was difficult for Brandon to find a surgeon who would help him.

My mom told me she babysat an infant who had both things is his she told me at 12. I didn't even know I had one thing at that time but what she told me was just enough to allows to realize from young that people are all different but they are all the same in God's Eyes. I'm so glad you our friends found a doctor who was enlightened, informed, and trained to do just what was needed to help your friend be a whole person. As a teacher of children and teens with special needs I also gained a perspective that allowed me see individual differences as strengths.
By August 15, I will be presented a commentary that I've been researching and writing regarding teens who are born gay. I have been in a school district where two unrelated boys hanged themselves because they were gay and felt no other option to the hate and ostracizing they felt
I live with the memory of going to work on two separate mornings and hearing the news that one at a time, two of God's Children, died rather than face another day in a world where people, most likely in their views, do not live one each other and do not let up from judging one another. I've also written a little non fiction story for young teens with an example of how they will actually be accepted abd understood by others. It is a fantast story with cartoon characters that end up talking to the boy.
My goal is similar to how you feel about your friends inner truth, to create a format by which teens could enenvision other scenery

*scenarios for telling their truths and other choices that suicide. I hope you will be supportive of my work because I'm a little worried about the reception it might receive. Thank you. :)

An excellent story for the contest. I think it should do really well. I do look forward to reading the other stories, too. I am probably a little older, and yes, the subject of same-sex relationships was new for our generation years ago. But over time, I have come to know so many fine people in the LBGT community. This is America, home of the brave, land of the free...be brave enough to be that free. Very well done. Terry.

Thank you. Such things were never discussed when I was growing up in the fifties and early sixties. It came as a bit of a shock to my young mind at the time. Now, I believe in live and let live. Most of these people cannot help being the way they are.

I 100% agree with you.
