I don't read the intro any longer but if I was
New to the story would but it has gotten to be longer than the new chapters. I did not know there ever was a walnut ball. I thought the feather lite was the first, feathers surrounded by leather.

The "featherie" came later (as we will see). It's believed that the earliest balls were wood. We just happen to have some black walnut husks around where we live now, and I thought that would make a good natural ball for a bored shepherd to strike with his whatever they called them. I have no idea really if they were ever actually used.

I had to make a lot of this up, as there are very few details, but that's the fun of fiction. You can just make stuff up on the fly.
