My mother and I used to take trips to New Orleans. On the way, we always stopped at St. Francisville to visit The Myrtles. We loved Louisiana. If only it wasn't so hot!

Thank rot the review. I've been to St. Francisville. It's over toward Baton Rouge. It is an uniquie little town too. South Louisiana has a lot of history.

Thank you for taking me on a tour of the New Orleans area, Beth. I know I will never see it in my lifetime although I have often visited it in movies and stories. Your story was interesting and I enjoyed reading about the move. Well done. Nancy:)

Sometimes, many of us, including children are overly impressed with what we believe to be famous or important people. But sadly, in most cases, it doesn't take us long to find out they aren't anymore special than anyone else, and sometimes, less. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reviewing both posts. I've never been too impressed with the rich and famous. They are just people like the rest of us and often there lives don't go nearly as well as our own. Edwin Edwards ending up serving time in prison.

Thank you for posting.
You make ordinary life experiences vivid.
I'll bet the French Quarter has changed a bunch since you first visited.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. Things to do change but in Louisiana, the French quarter they claimed wasn't so different from when it was first built. They have tried to history alive and visiting there was like going back in time. I've not been back since Katrina destroyed so much of New Orleans. The French Quarter wasn't really damaged though.

I spent a night in Big Easy in 1972. Met a gal, and lied to her, I was driving my new Mercury Monterrey to spring training in Arizona. Boys, and their toys. She didn't bite.
Enjoyed the tour and information you provided. Be well.

Really interesting autobiographical writing. Once again I find myself fascinated by scenes from the US that I cannot imagine. Still long to visit New Orleans!

It sounds as though you had a good time, exploring the new setting for your family. As you wandered the streets of New Orleans, and found new things to do and new people to me I enjoyed your story very much. You have written it very well. Patricia.

Thank you Patricia. I was enjoying the unique atmosphere of the place. I liked doing new things. I think I enjoyed it more that my husband did.

This is so well written and described, I felt I was along for the ride.
You so well described the scenery and the culture. I remember the Governor and he was a colorful character. He was a caricature of a Southern politician.
I enjoyed reading it and will go back to the other post.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you Mary. I'm so glad you like my story. You are right. Governor was a caricature of a Southern politician. Both Mississippi and Louisiana has some real characters that the South was famous for.

Hey Beth, this is a very nice read and good luck with your book on Amazon. It is frustrating, challenging, and rewarding to move from the familiar to the brand new. It sounds like you and your family navigated it well. Thanks for taking all of us on the ride with you. I trust the things you treasured were not broken lol.
My guess is you might want to remove the word: "The" following the word, "visited."
"On the weekends, the five of us visited the several of the city"

I have eaten at various places you mentioned during the time I drove for Greyhound. That was sixty years ago. No doubt they are still there. New Orleans, some call it sin soaked city. I can understand Don's troubles with the artist.

Thank you for an excellent review. Quite a few people on this site have memoties of being in New Orleans. I imagine there is sin everywhere. We met some good people there as well. For Evan, he was with the same people he worked with in Jackson. We made a lot of good Christian friends at church.

Yes, good is always the opposite of sin. One must dwell where they choose.
