I'm glad you asked the cop for directions! No wonder the rent was affordable. A nice cliffhanger with this line: Little did he know what fate might have in store. Moving is especially hard when you have to think about schools.

Thank you for the review and comments. Yes I'm glad we didn't pursue going after the apartment that were in a housing project. Whoever had written the ad in the paper made is sound wonderful.

Found it in your portfolio! Well written, and an interesting read, and no I didn't get any notification about it. It reminded me of when we went to live in Saudi Arabia for my husband's work, and we had only a couple of weeks notice. And had to get Diplomatic passports etc. an enjoyable read.

Thank you, Wendy. I appreciate you going out of your way to find it. I glad you told me about your experience. I imagine moving to Saudi Arabia on short notice was a lot a lot to contend with.

Fan story did not notify us about the post that you have here. Or I would have reviewed it earlier. I'm glad you told me that they had not posted it for you. Making a decision to move to a new place is always a hard thing to do. Patricia.

Thank you Patricia. I'm glad you went out of your way to find it. Not many have read it. Tom insisted that all posts have their frineds notified unless they are contest enties which this one wasn't. I know one talented lady who writes on here and none of her friends are ever notified. FanStory has some glitches.

I wonder sometimes if all of my friends have been notified of the things that I post as well.

I seem to recall that there was someone who had written the piece, and when I tried checking it out again it kept saying that the piece was still under construction. This might have been your story, I am not sure.
reply by the author on 21-Jun-2023
It was under constuction for a while because I had to take out of the book it didn't belong in and switch to the correct story and then rename it twice before I could post it.

Yes, moving is one of life's greatest and scarriest adventures. You chronicled hours so well in this distant memory. We moved back from New York to Florida and started over. I was pregnant too. I can relate.

Your text looks great and easy to read, by the way.

Sending you my best today as always.
Sal xoxo's.

Thank you Sally, I really appreciate your review and comments. Moves are no fun but it is an adventure to explore a new location.

Hoorah! One of my favorite writers. Hello again Beth. Well, you know by now that I'm a Brit working out of London - so you would absolutely not expect me to have traveled over Lake Pontchartrain a dozen times! In fact, my best friends in the States during the 1980s lived in Slidell - but I think I mentioned this already.
The 'old money' of New Orleans and the 'antebellum' houses of Louisiana were probably as much a surprise to you as they were to me - and eating beignets by the Mississippi was an unforgettable experience.
But I was on holiday, and you were leaving your treasured home and farm. Now, that's a big deal - and you expressed all the doubts, fears and emotions very convincingly.
Once again, great writing.
Paul

Thank you, Paul. I'm delighted you found this because for some reason FanStory didn't notefy any of my fans it was here. It is another one of the gliches you may find on this site. It is the story you should have read when you read the prologue for my book. New Orleans is an interesting place that held many surprises for us. I'm so glad you are continuing to review my stories.

Your text is very legible though it does have a highlighted band around it. But don't worry - all good. Your story actually sounds more than a bit stressful and I was hoping there might be a continuation. The fact that you were so settled with your life measured out and also having 3 children and all those animals makes me feel quite tense for you. But well done for taking on this life change. There is an error in your spelling of Evan in para starting Renting an apartment and also end of para starting I'm sure... Little (did?) he know. Also in your title description - A family (must)... But an enjoyable read begging for more... Thanks for sharing. Debbie

Debbie, Thank you so much for reviewing this and pointing out the errors. There will be more as this is the first chapter of the second volumn of the book Chasing the Elusive Dream that I just managed to get on Amazon. I've had trouble posting this because FanStory wanted to make it the 40th chapter of the first book.

Thank you Dr. Ricky. I disable that story before I got your review so maybe you read the right one. Over the weekend I had the worng story attached to the title. In trying to correct it I decided to disable it and repost to a new title. I do appreciate your review and comments.

Ohh I am so jealous. As a Brit I long to visit these places. I've always wanted to go to New Orleans especially. Your story is interesting and hints at much more to come. Well done.

Thank you for reading. I need to apoligize. I just removed it because I realized the wrong story was posted to the title. It was supposed to chapter one of volumn 2 of Chasing the Elusive Dream but what got accidentally posted was the prologue of my first book I have on Amazon which I don't thinks had anything about New Orleans in it. I changed it out this morning. I don't know if you read a prologue or the actual story I meant to post. I will repost it in a few day under another title because everyone who read it earlier read the prologue.
