This is a really good story. Nobody really expects their wishes to come true. These guys certainly regretted their T-shirt message and were very fortunate their foolishness was forgiven. Great little story.

Thank you. I remember some of the foolish wishes I have made and held on to for far too long a time. Thank God they were not granted.

You can have a six for this one. It goes right to the point that is careful what and who you follow without knowing what you are getting. It is dramatic, and so creative. It is timely as there are those who have embraced Putin and Russia here. For the verbal bomb throwers, here you put the bomb in their hands to give them a taste of reality.
Brilliant.
Best wishes,
Mary

I guess the grass wasn't greener on the other side after all. People don't thing these things through when boasting about what they think might make they look cool with their political view on display. LOL

The key element as I see it is, think before you make public statements that might come back and bite you. Thank you for your review comments.

Hi Nomi, you've penned a very good story about a serious topic, and you did it in a lighthearted way--humor sells. Your story makes your point quite eloquently. I laughed when I saw the tee-shirt because I am of Russian heritage. I've joyfully lived through my share of Russian jokes. However, I can relate to your story from a personal family experience(s). Just sharing as I do. Here is one story--I have photos of 3 cousins in their coffins--ages 8-12--who were executed along with their mother because their father, my uncle, refused to serve in the Russian army. I have a few other stories. However, I enjoyed reading your story. Thank you for your author's notes which I agree with. Yes, the best thing to do with some people is to give them their wish. Did you ever read the story, "A Man Without A Country." I read it when I was in the 5/6th grade. Still a favorite of mine. The guy in the story got his wish--to never hear the name of the United States again. Your story is well done with good humor. I'll have to now read the reviews. I never read other reviews before I write my own. Thank you for sharing. Be well ~ stay safe. Have a great evening! Margaret

"The Man Without A Country" cause me much discomfort. It was required viewing for my class. That his last name was the same as my first name NOLAN, subjected me to much ribbing. "As far as the eye can see, only water no land" was a favorite tease. I took it all in stride, actually what else could I do? Thank you for your review.

Do you remember in the book that he only got to read newspapers after the crew, and they cut all mention of the US out of the paper?

It has been too many years. I am afraid that the strongest memory for me is my being teased as the man with no country.

Ahh. Being teased is no fun. M

Wow! This is a dramatic, creative story. It is succinct and flows smoothly, delivering a definite message for today's times of American dissatisfaction and protests. Your story also added a bit of humor when the friends were issued Russian military uniforms and sent to war. This is a classic story of "getting what you asked for."

You did a great job with your story, Nomi. I enjoyed
reading it because it point ed out the way many spout
put hate about the USA. They constantly criticize the
policies and freedoms they have and how the military
fights to protect all. In today's society if all those like
these nitwits were to be flown the Russian, NKorea,
China, etc., they would immediately see what they
had was precious. and they've kept their big mouths
shut. No country is or can be perfect, but the USA certainly
comes close.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you Jan. I had a very clear message in mind when I wrote this. I am pretty sure I speak for many who no doubt feel as I do towards those unpatriotic fools who criticize our country in favor of countries they know nothing about. There is a reason people are risking life and limb to get here and stay here.

This was an outstanding story, my friend. It surely shows that we must be careful what we wish for. Lol
It's actually amusing to me, because, I myself had said I'd rather live in Russia than a democratic America .

Truly, love this story!

This is an interesting story. The life and feeling of the three protesters are in predictable. Be carefully, they may get what they ask for.

If they aren't sure what they want. This story tells them not to do it.

Thanks for sharing

They should have kept their eyes wide open. This story could have ended with their being killed by a sniper, a bomb or some other way. Thank you for your review comments.
