Now this is an amazing "share your story" entry into the contest. Everyone on this site can relate to this in one way or another.

I joined FS in 2009 and left in 2016 until last November. I do recall your Super Pig postings. They were one of my favorite reads on this site.

Excellent, Rox. You should feel proud!
John

An excellent account of your writing and publishing of Super Pig. I really like the idea that his super powers could be in doubt but he has gifts of helping and supporting others that make up for any deficit in his reputed powers. Your thrill and enjoyment throughout your experience and relationship with Super Pig is transparent in this story. And the conclusion that it hasn't been the money that mattered, more the fun and response, is also clearly conveyed. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Debbie

I loved your Super Pig stories, Rox, have you thought of self-publishing with KDP Amazon? It costs you nothing, and they will publish it in Kindle, paper-back and hard cover. They take a percentage of your sales for the printing etc, and you get the rest. You can buy as many copies as you want at your author's price, which is a good discount from what it's sold to the public. I've published all my children's books and my novels with them. They do two colour grades, the high quality one costs more to produce, so the price goes up a bit for the general public. But they now do one that is a lot cheaper, but still good quality.
I enjoyed reading your success with Super Pig, you've given all those children so much joy. You might not be financially rich, but you are very rich in how much pleasure you've gained.
My first book was published with a respected publisher, but I had to pay for the illustrations. They later went out of business. They cost me £3000. Like yours, my illustrator earned far more than I did!! I had 13 stories in that one, and went mad with the pictures, as children do like to see them. This is a fabulous piece for the share your story contest, and I wish you the very best of luck! Love and hugs. Sandra xxx

Thanks so much Sandra. Why didn't I know about Amazon? Well it's very good to know should I decide to do it again. My bro just had his first grandchild, my first great niece and I'd like to do a SP story for her. Knowing about Amazon makes it possible. Thanks so much.

You are very welcome, Rox. I wrote a series of 4 books for my grandson, he was the hero in all, and he had an alien drone called Herbie. I just know that your new niece will love a book written for her when she's old enough to read it. (or to have it read) xxx

I remember the stories about your grandson. He rode a bike and had the little drone. Very fun stories. I'm sure he loved them.

That's right. On National Book Day, the children at his school were asked to bring in their favourite book and dress up as the hero. Eric walked into the class room wearing his normal outdoor clothes. When it was his turn to explain the book he liked, and who the hero was, he said, he was the hero and showed the teacher the book with his picture on the cover. Eric and the Aliens! He was so proud when the all wanted to have a look. When he told me that the teacher wanted to know if I would go and read it to the class, he was even prouder. Bless his heart. You must write that Super Pig book for your niece. xxx

Hello Roxanna, your Super Pig
sounds like a giving and
thoughtful character. Although you didn't have
financial gains from your
book, I can tell by your writing
you don't regret it. You reached a lot of children with
it. I looked into self-publishing
a children's book. The 1st
publisher wanted $11,000.
I couldn't afford it. Another
wanted $4,000. But my
dentist office charged me
a few thousand dollars to
repair some of my teeth so
that was where the money
had to go. Your book was
successful with a lot of
children. That warms my
heart. I'm glad I read your
story. Many blessings to
you. ~

    Hi, Sandra Mitchell Just told me Amazon will publish your books for free, just take a percentage. Wish I'd know that sooner. So maybe you can look into that. Thanks so much for the great review and I do think you money was better spent on your teeth. =}

This was a very informative piece of writing. I enjoyed hearing about your experiences, and I plan to go on your segment and read the Super Pig stories to my two year old grand daughter.

Thank you. That would be great. I can send you a book if you like. The first few are out of print now, the publisher went bankrupt, but I have a number of my last book still and am happy to send you one.
