This is an excellent review of a book I would like to get for granddaughters and nephew. I will check on respa's site. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

What a lovely thing to do, Jay. Pam's book has been in my possession since it was published, and you're right, it is a little gem. I'm a big fan of hers, and her husband Robert. Two amazing talents in one family!! You are such a sweetheart, my friend. Well done. :)) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sanku. My post seems to have brought the kids to the surface of a lot of Fanstory grownups.

A fine tribute to Pam as you admire the book she has posted and I shall have to check it out. A fine post. Just one suggestion below.
Suggestion for the sake of grammar:
remove the (s) here
path through a critter-friendly wood(s),
or
remove the (a) here:
path through (a) critter-friendly woods,
Love Dolly x

Hi Dolly. Thank you for your helpful commentary. I must say I have used the plural "woods" all my life without questioning it. So I'm sure you can see why I didn't want to give up that easily, LOL. I looked it up in the Meriam Webster online dictionary and found that both the singular and plural are acceptable. Still, it was vague, so I checked another source, "English Language and Usage." There they said that the singular was used in Europe while the plural tends to be used in America. It led me to wonder if you might be from Europe. Still ... in the back of my mind, I thought of Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" where he writes: "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood," (and Frost is American). As I perused the analysis of his poem, I was struck by the first line: "The speaker has found himself in the woods with two paths, both of which he wants to travel." Still in a quandary, I pulled up another of Frost's famous poems, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening ."
I'm left feeling I can go either way. In this case, Dolly, I thank you immensely, but I must stay with what I have. I'm more inclined to remove the "a" from "through a critter-friendly woods." I'll have to give the whole matter a bit more thought. But can I stress that I really, truly, appreciate your going out of your way to help me improve my writing?

I think you made a wise choice Jay after your extensive research and you are very much welcome to the review, have a lovely day x x x x

I don't know how wise I was with my choice. Sometimes change can be such a bother. Whether on the giving or the receiving end. But we have a responsibility -- you and I -- to do all we can to offer (and receive) the very best that's in us.

You are such a kind friend. I'm sure Pam will be delighted that you have pointed us all in the direction of her book. I've always loved children's books for myself. They create a certain mysticism and draw me back into the years of yore (that were such fun). kay

Hi Jay, I had to smile, when I read this. Certainly not in an overbearing way, but with a nod of recognition. I actually bought Pam's book last year and sent it to my eldest granddaughter for her birthday in early November 22. I even wrote a wee piece about it with a photo of her hand on the book after she received it. She loved it.
Now, the story doesn't quite end there. You see, my young granddaughter is Danish and lives in Denmark with my daughter and her husband and the two younger siblings. At eleven her English is already very good. They're all taught the language from very young. As was I, when I grew up in Denmark. You can find my little piece in my portfolio. Thanks for sharing. Ulla;)))

A lovely introduction and promotion to Pam's book. For those unfamiliar with her work, it is a introduction to a real treasure.
As to your own words, I am sitting on a bench in a state park. It is early with so few people around. As you suggest, I am a 7 year old listening to the sounds of various birds in the woods. Your words are perfect for my imagination.
Best wishes

Hello, Jay!
Pam is one of my favorites here, and although I may be creaking and chipping, I love the genre and her work!
Whatever her poetic subject, it always gives one an aerial view of her meaning and lays it out refreshingly. Beautifully promoted, Jay! Best, JohnC

So good to hear of Pam's new book, Jay. Thanks so much for promoting it. I'm not reviewing much at the moment but read and enjoyed your recent reposting of On the Altar of Self Sacrifice - an ingenious perspective and a worthy winner. Congratulations!
