I think he's a keeper if he does shopping, cooking and housework. There are times when one has to accept individual differences as enriching. Don't throw the poetry book at him, but let him do all the household accounts - that's a boring and onerous job. Lol. Sorry if I am favouring the husband here!! Best wishes for your entry.

Thanks so much Wendy, Hahaha! This court case and complaints were all fiction, but non-fiction was my husband hating poetry and doing the shopping and helps with the cooking and dishes. I purposely wrote this to show the good guy he is, gave him the better attorney and made him look good. Lol, even in a vote, the writer still can control the outcome.. in my authors notes it also tells how I hate his whiny country music but still married almost fifty years. And we help each other as it is a marriage of more give than take. Thanks for finding him innocent. My books of poetry are too precious to ruin by throwing at him. Lol...

Good job on the humor in this KFC courtroom scene. Poor hubby probably suffers some trauma from his English classes. I like the suggested punishment of having him read poetry aloud every night. Does he really cook and do the dishes and shopping? Best wishes in the contest.

Your script for the contest read well, Debi. I enjoyed it and
got a good laugh from start to finish. Yes, it was a kangaroo
court heart by a kangaroo with notable heritage. All of the
personalities involved in this case were well developed. A
couple were what I would call wacko. The married couple
seemed like the really just wanted to show off and let it be
known what each does or doesn't do. I believe hubby has
tried to change but just can't make himself like poetry.
However, he does make up for it in many other ways which
the wife should be thankful. He seemed like an all around
good guy. The wife was lucky she didn't run him off in the
early years because another woman would've snapped him
up in an instant. I imagine after the trial she'll think better
of him in regards to his feelings of about her poetry. So, he's
not guilty.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you Jan for the kind words and and six stars for how this turned out. As much as it was supposed to be mostly fiction, I changed it so many times that I just had to give him the edge cause I couldn't stand the thought of anyone thinking bad of him for not what I had at first written about him. So I made myself look worse. No showing off at all, just became more true parts then what I expected. I just didn't want to make him look bad , even gave him the nicer lawyer.

Lol! Thank you for this funny "KFC" jury court! And actually, a lot of spouses of Fanstorians can relate to the husband in this script. I think this long-loving couple will figure things out without the jury! Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks sweet friend. You do know this is Glen that I wrote about but gave him the edge, the nicer lawyer and made him look like a good guy that he is.
Gosh its good to see you! Thanks so much!

This was a very entertaining write. I enjoyed it. In my case, my wife is the one forced to listen to my poetic output. She acts as my editor, and corrects so many of my mistakes. My writing is an awful lot cleaner due to her efforts to keep me on track.

Thanks, sweet friend and brother! And yes this i.s about Glen, but he is still proud of me. He just. Hates listening to it. That's why I didn't make him look like a bad guy, I gave him the better lawyer and told about his good points. Thanks sweet Nomi for the kind review!

I find the husband "Not Guilty." While he dislikes poetry, he doesn't prevent his wife from writing. Also, he helps out with cooking, dishwashing, etc. which allows her time for writing. Lots of husbands have hobbies their wives don't care about, like watching football or playing golf, but that doesn't mean they should try to keep them from pursuing their interests. Humorous scene which will resonate with FS writers who may have the same problem with their spouse. I don't know why you need the announcer. judi

Lol, when I was a kid there was a show that I loved and it had a Kangaroo court on it. There was always an announcer, kinda like an emcee and so it all helped to get my humor in. Besides, I worked on three different ones that I threw away every time, so this was all that worked for me. Thanks so much for the kind comments Judi, and I am glad you said not guilty as I gave him the better attorney and made him look better. It doesn't bother me that he doesn't like poetry, but he thought it was funny that I told the story, even tho 90% was fiction. Thanks again Hon, and I sure hope you are doing ok. Thinking of you often!

You're very welcome. This was such a neat, creative contest. Husbands and wives don't necessarily have to have all the same interests, but they should allow the other to pursue hers. This guy didn't try to stop her from writing poetry. judi

No, he is quite proud of her. He actually tells her that a lot. ( Big smile)

There's not many folk that love poetry these days, I don't think it's a popular purchase in a book store, but I like it's "ease of passage," one can say a lot with a little, but it's not always easy to interpret, I like your "Kangaroo court" we have a lot here of course, seeing we have them bounding down the street, beautifully written dear Debi, blessings Roy

Hahaha! Roy, I bet your country looks like one big court case. Mine with complaints were all fiction, but non-fiction part was my husband hating poetry and doing the shopping and helps with the cooking and dishes. I purposely wrote this to show the good guy he is, gave him the better attorney and made him look good. This script did a good job pointing out how poetry does not appeal to everyone. If that were so, our poetry society in my home state would be bulging at the seams for space instead of being down to half the membership it had fifteen years ago. There is a certain frequency of one's spirit that is achieved by writing poetry, and it definitely keeps dialogue more civil overall. Maybe the husband could try reading limericks or humorous poetry or parodies to get accustomed to the lighter side of it. I finally just included a couple of sentences about it in Christmas letters every year. Nice share.

Hi Christie, That is horrible that your historical poet society is dropping throughout the years, and as much as this court case and complaints were all fiction, but yes, non-fiction was my husband hating poetry and doing the shopping and helps with the cooking and dishes. But you mentioned limericks and he doesn't mind those or the shorter ones. Thanks for finding him innocent. My books of poetry are too precious to ruin by throwing at him. Lol...

This is a humorous description of the setting. Rather than repel the reader, this will draw the reader in.: "This may not seem like any other court you remember being in before, but I can promise that you will want to forget it as soon as you leave." This is all any of us want: All she asks for is a little recognition, support, and encouragement."

Well, poetry is not for everyone. In fact, writing is not for everyone.

I think the husband should be assigned community service and have to read nursery rhymes to kindergarten children. Even people who say they hate poetry seem to have fond memories of nursery rhymes.

Thank goodness for Fanstory. My family member just rolls their eyes when I say I have written something. I have to go outside the family for any support in that area.
