It absolutely does. I've found that some people just don't seem to care that much about it or have no ear for it, but to me, that's often the difference between a 5-star and a 6-star poem.

Okay, I'll bite. Since golf has been set aside and I still have an hour until t-time, I aspire to read, at least, Have Another Pork Chop, Paul - or your baseball poem was indeed g r e a t! for a nine-year old boy.
