You are a careing person. I can't imagine someone who would go away and leave dogs to enclosed with no way to fend for themselves and no one to look after them. How cruel. The dog are very fortnate you lived next door. There should be more poeple like you. It would be a bettter world.

They may have asked someone to give them food and water but if so they aren?t attending to them often enough to supply what they need in terms of food and water. They were very hungry and thirsty yesterday. And they need kind words. Thank you very much for your kind words, and I am honoured by the extra star.

Bless you for being such a good neighbor to the dogs. Either something has happened to the neighbors or they really don't care for those animals. You probably saved their lives. You certainly alleviated their suffering at least for a little while and I am sure they are grateful for your efforts.

I think it?s probably the latter unfortunately. I?ll do what I can while I can for these poor dogs. Thank you very much for reviewing. Greatly appreciated.

Good on you Wendy, I fail to see how these poor dogs aren't cared, but I think you do have a case for the RSPCA, I have seen horror stories on the TV of starving, vets thin horses and also of neglected dogs and cats barely able to walk, and later being rejuvenated to health, some were so bad, they had to be "put down" well done Wendy, blessings Roy

Thanks Roy for reviewing and for your suggestion. Still thinking about what is best for the dogs.

Make the call. Taken to a shelter they will likely spend a significant part of their day in a cage, yes, but would be watered and fed, and the owner will be fined or lose their pets which they don't deserve. Then, again, maybe they were in an accident out in the bush and were eaten alive by a croc.

Hello Wendy,
you have such a generous heart. I applaud you for coming to the aid of those two helpless dogs. I really don't understand why some folks own animals. I understand your concern about turning your neighbors in to the authorities, but it appears that they've abandoned their responsibility, and it doesn't sound like they will change. Thanks for caring.
Have a blessed day.

Thank you Tom. It?s hard to know what is in the dogs? best interest. Being kept in a cage at the animal shelter would be worse. I am hoping to speak positively with the owners when they get back.

Dogs and cats should be loved and cherished, as they bring so much joy and comfort to humans. Just ask Sunny. Your neighbors are inconsiderate people, to leave their dogs with insufficient food and water. I am so glad you were able to quieten the dog's plea for help. This story isn't over. Keep us posted.

Thank you so much for your ongoing interest. I hope the owners will be prepared to have a conversation with me when they return.

This story was written well, but it was really upsetting. I hate to believe that some people treat living creatures that way. People should have to fill out applications and be accepted before they can own pets. I am glad you cared for these dogs. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you (and the dogs).

Thank you Jessi. Yes, it is very upsetting. I hope to have a "good" and worthwhile conversation with the owners when they return. Thanks so much for reviewing.

Wish I had a six. You have done a very kind thing. I have never understood why people get animals then ignore their responsibility when it's an inconvenience. Pets are like children except they never come of age where they can fend for themselves. Wish I had a six. This touched me. Gretchen

Thank you for such a moving review. I think they got them to be guard dogs, which explains the lack of affection. Not working if the dogs bark all night when they are away. Animal abuse or neglect makes me angry and upset. As you say they are vulnerable for their whole lives.

This is a wonderful idea! They have become your friends and will love you for giving them food, water, and companionship. I cannot fathom some people's disregard for animals and their needs.

Thank you for reviewing! I believe they were meant to be guard dogs it it?s not working if they bark all night when the owners are away. Everyone knows they?re away. But that explains the lack of affection. Such a pity. I am sure the dogs would be wonderful if offered love and training.

This is horrible. These people don't deserve to have one dog let alone two. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am praying for these dogs.
The kibble has almost all gone, only a few bits remaining. (kibble was almost all gone)

Thank you for praying. I am praying the owners will be prepared to have a conversation with me. And really listen. They are pretty rough types, and apparently wanted guard dogs. Not working if they bark all night when the owners are away. Last night the dogs came and stood quietly at the fence while I lowered the food down. No jumping or growling. Very moving for me.
