A good chapter, barbara, that shows good interaction among the characters. Various sub plots are developing that center around information Emma's father has and Emma's cabin having been disturbed by an unknown intruder.

There are also some lighter moments during dinner with discussion about adding the pastry they used to have at the bakery. It looks very good in the picture you used.

You did a good job with the basketball game between Seth and Keith. It allowed for continued discussion about Emma and situations involving her, as well as highlighting potential problems. A good concluding section, as well.

Hmm, the writing and editing are good. You introduced obstacles and issues to build drama. I'm sure your fan base will enjoy the mini- mystery and parental and secret stakes, as they will the step by step romance.

Good luck with the next chapter.

Yeah, I'm learning to like Seth's take-charge attitude. Everything ran smoothly for this chapter. I should add one thing: "He opened her door."[This confused me at first. I thought it was her house door. Nothing to change, I suppose, unless you wanted to add "car" before "door".]

Great realistic dialogue as always, nice and crisp, and I like that scene near the end when they get into Emma's house and feel like someone has gotten in. Nothing is disturbed, so that is creepy. you created some wonderful suspense there and left us with lots to think about as this mystery unfolds. The police cheif and Emma are also going to be sharing a house so the opportunity is there for the romance to bud...estory

So you have introduced someone new into the equation. How long will it be before Seth and Emma figure out they are falling in love? You wrote another fine chapter, and I'm looking forward to the next one. Enjoy your afternoon. Shirley

It will be a while before they admit they care for each other. I wonder who will figure it out first?

It is frightening to find someone has been in your house. It's probably wise for Emma to spend the night at Seth's. Could be fodder for gossip in a small town though it is innocent.
You are building the tension and the drama for this poor girl and those around her.

I wish they'd find out who's stalking Emma. She doesn't seem to realize she is in danger, but Seth will see to it that's she safe. Maybe it's the biological mother's boyfriend, and they're trying to get some money out of her parents.

I've read this chapter with much pleasure. There is a constant style throughout and, since I read a few prior chapters, I find the characters very well defined. The dialogue is good and the plot is evident as one reads.
I need a clarification for the lines where Emma says she feels someone's been in her cabin, and Seth replies that he "agrees"...
Thanks

It's just a gut feeling but both of them have the same feeling. Nothing definite. Thank you for the kind review.

Nicely done, Barb. When Seth was first introduced as the police chief, I got the impression that he was an older man. You might want to go back and add something that would indicate his age.

Not a problem. That's the problem of posting only once a week. Where in reality the novel would be read all together.
