As you herein describe I felt as if I was near at hand seeing the things you viewed. Majestic rangelands, bellowing elk, sweet grass to nibble on and the warmth of the sun makes me as unfettered as the land.

Excellent. Your words were very lyrical, utilising all the senses and cleverly conveying the atmosphere and feel of the land. The imagery conveyed everything perfectly and the poem flowed beautifully.

The best poem I have read so far for the contest. Of course I can't experience American lands and wildlife but you have written a great piece with excellent descriptions, even brought the smell of the wildlife and described the antlers of a buck. I have only seen them in Scotland. K xx

Nicely done in free verse. I can have a similar experience by stepping out my back door. The difference being that I am in the East - no elk - while you are in the West.

This is elegant! Reading the guidelines I wondered how many would go hog wild "punny" on thus. From your image through the quiet deference of your free verse, with an aura of awe throughout, I was captivated.

Love the subtle alliteration throughout...

("fall, flowing, fertile, floor, fields--in stanza 4!)

Kudos, author.

Well done!

Karenina

moving and evocative poem about life on the western ranges of the U.S I suppose though this could be Canada or Australia for that matter like these lines the best

My senses have awoken once again.
As I am reminded of the sure expanse
of my hidden rangeland that remains
largely unfettered, I smile and nod.

This was a beautiful free verse poem with excellent imagery such as, "dawn snatches darkness's cloak off the rangy untouched forest" and "the rush of damp heavy fog swirling and twisting with the current of last winter's hard snow." I can picture everything, as you described the scenes so vividly. This was very well-written. Jim

This is a beautiful piece that is full of imagery - sights and sounds of winter melting into spring in the valley. Tasting the day lily sprout was the cherry on top. Perfect artwork to go with your well crafted free verse. I enjoyed the trek.
