This is a serious essay which will be good for all of us to read since most us never got the opportunity to train as a Marine. All of these skills you mention are something we can use in our dailly lives. I have no one to lead at the moment, but I did at one time. I really like the Eisenhower quote.

I live and hopefully lead by a similar rule, "Get you idea across and acted upon, by making other's believe they thought of the idea first."

The Dwight Eisenhower quote is one I have used in managing my agency for 30+ years. It works. The most difficult part is to remember to celebrate when THEY make the decision. Sometimes, it requires allowing someone to talk you out of their decision into yours and giving them credit for coming up with it. It is a wonderful tool for discovering common ground. ann

A good leader understands his team and trusts them to do their job and in return they will show him some loyalty. If there is no mutual trust there will be no discipline, I liked the quote Bill, and the pneumonic device, love Dolly x
