This is a very tamed and controlled "rant". I understand you and agree with many things. You do a good job of pointing out the areas of concern and fully articulating what you mean and what is desired.
I look at reviewers like writers. Some authors are at the beginning of learning their skill. So, when they review others, they are rookies there too, and compensate with their emotions. Now, that's where the issues come in. Their emotions change based on the subjects they read. (what you pointed out).
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Yup. And I wish Tom would point that out in clear terms when people join - review and critique the writing, only mentioning the content in a friendly, positive manner. This is not a forum for political debate.
Thank you for your very nice review.

Thanks again.
Comment from Kaiku
I am giving you six because you are spot on and hopefully all the FS folks read this. I made an early error in judgement when I first joined FS and gave 4 star rating because I didn`t think the writing was of interest. It was written quite well, so my subjective review really was an insult to the person`s writing capability. I got reamed for it, but I finally realized that I made a mistake. I was given a 3 star for a haiku entry because the reviewer didn`t like that I had 3 positive lines in my haiku, they felt one line should be negative and began to show me how I should have written it. I was flabbergasted and indicated as such. I could offer a few more instances but I have yakked too much. Thanks for the piece of wisdom. BTW, if someone goes over the line, I don`t mind letting them know it. I shouldn`t be so sensitive.

LOL.
I love your review. Thank you.
I learned not to be too literal with the rules of star awarding. It has to be pretty bad for me to give it a four. And then only if I've convincingly detailed the errors. After all, we aren't in school. It costs me nothing to be generous with the fives.
And speaking of stars, thank you immensely for the six!
