Wish I had a six left for you. This is a very thoughtful piece, and the comparison of their situations is a thoughtful one. Each was being asked to compromise their basic and essential purpose in life, was being asked to take the easy way, and look after self as number one. Neither chose the easy path. Both were killed. Yet they chose wisely, and we are blessed.
Well done.
Wendy

Your last two lines are so true, the president after Obama was unqualified and it was so shocking he was even elected. Excellent article about a man who stood his ground, remained true to his beliefs and himself. Jesus is proud of Dr. King and his use of nonviolence.

Your non fiction story is very well written, and it fills in some history gaps that I was not aware of. Nicely done. Your story was beautifully written, and I enjoyed reading it. This was an excellent commentary that your wrote. It has a super take on the issue. Thank you for sharing.

A wonderfully done, informative piece.

It's well written and fill in a few history gaps I was not aware of.

There are, however, a few places where the word "that" could and should be eliminated. Lines read better and sound more dignified without them.

Thank you for posting this.

Thank you for reading and reviewing. As is or at least should be the case of writers whose talents are evolving, there is always room for improvement. Only a fool ignores helpful suggestions on ways to improve his craft. In this case I thank you very much for your helpful acknowledgements and suggestions.

    My pleasure.

I occasionally misuse "that" in my drafts and have to edit them out.

I have just been reading a chapter from Ecclesiastes of the ultimate direction of man, and tried to write a poem on it, but never finished, but we have to do what we need to do, if we are truly God-centered we achieve God's will for our lives, but inevitably God will have His way, and we need to find that way. MLK knew that, Beautifully written Bro, blessings Roy

When you campaign like Martin Luther King did and stir the people like he did, it is difficult not to upset some people and then violence ensues. When the task is huge, the disruption will also be enormous. We all look back and admire this man now, but at the time, people would not accept the change and believed he was a trouble maker. How times have changed, and for the better, but there is still a long way to go for equal rights for black men and women as well as just women, especially in the US. The struggle continues. I enjoyed your poignant write, love Dolly x

In the history of man, change has always been problematic. The American revolution, the Civil War, the Haloucast, etc. It never seems to end. If you want to change the status quo, you can do it, but there will be blood.

An excellent commentary and very well written. It kind of gets lost in today's history of those times, but Dr. King was always advocating non-violence, following the lead of others like Gandhi. The great irony was the terrible violence forced on him.

As far as your comment about Obama's replacement is concerned...You, my friend, are absolutely right! Exceptional. Terry.

Opposition is dangerous enough when one opposes a single set of beliefs. When one finds oneself opposing two sets of belief each opposed to the other life must be doubly hard, and being true to to oneself doubly difficult. This article raises interesting questions.

Yes, but at the end of the day it comes down to will you be an opponent of change, or will you be a proponent of change, fully willing to accept all that goes with either stance?

This, my friend, is a well-written and executed conceived post on the letter written by Doctor King! I applaud your comparison between the teachings of Jesus and what Doctor King's message was all about! This shows us all the nature of what Jesus and his teachings and his deliverance from evil were all about as well. Great job!
Keep up the great work!
Jesse

Excellent writing. Super take on the issue.
It is my belief, that the 'ministering' white religious men advising Dr. King to 'cool' it would be spouting the same lukewarm blather today. Black folks would still be riding the back of the bus (if allowed at all) and not voting, let alone running for (and winning) the presidency.
Best wishes.
