Whoa! Didn't see that one coming! So thought that story was going one way, and it totally went another. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes in the contest.

Those things actually happen, and it seems more and more in evidence as we go along. Just when one thinks that life has turned a corner, suddenly this happens, well done Wendy, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thank you Sal. A wonderful review, especially appreciated because it is from you, a crime fiction writer! Thanks too for the good wishes.

Dang, If someone told me Wendy G had written this story, I would have said, "No way, it would be way out of character for her." But sure enough, your name and picture are right next to the story.
But much more important is that it is an excellent entry into this flash fiction contest. Very well done. Maybe you should be writing more crime noir! Terry.

Thanks Terry. I'm not so good at thinking of such stories as a rule. This one came to me while walking my dog!! Glad you enjoyed it.

LOL, you have discovered a hidden talent. Keep it up. The thing I learned from Humpwhistle about fiction was to create a setting for a character, and let the character tell you the story. Go for it. Terry.

You definitely told the entire story and used only a few words. This contest entry all the necessary ingredients of a complete story. Good luck with the contest.
He also asked about their daughter Michelle. (comma needed after 'daughter')

Wow - I'm glad this is fictional!
A harrowing twist at the end, but could so easily happen, couldn't it? It sounds a bit like an episode of a crime drama. Maybe you could turn it into a script.

Thank you very much Sarah! What a wonderful review. Yes, it could very easily happen. We let down our guard when people appear to be "nice".

What a horrific tale! You did a great job with saving the horror for the last minute, and without saying a word about it, the reader is conscious of the guilty feelings the narrator must feel. Great story.

OMG! I feared that there might be a bad outcome when I first started reading it but I have to admit that the ending shocked me. It's so totally different from your usual style and I hadn't noticed that it was fiction until the end. You did a great job on this. I hope you win the contest. You've got my vote!

Thank you Mary! What a wonderful review, and how special to get six stars. Many thanks. (I think this contest is judged by the committee, so I have no idea how it will go. But it'svery pleasing to know you would vote for it if you could!)

Oh, wow! What a surprise ending! I read this thinking it would turn out pleasant and then was horrified to find out that the next-door neighbor was murdered by her ex-husband!
Man, what a twist!

Well, that just goes to show that you never give information about anyone to a stranger.
This was different for you, Wendy. Well-written with a surprise (somewhat - I figured he was up to no good) ending. Good luck in the contest.

Yes - if it sounds all good and happy, there is bound to be a twist to evil at the end! Thanks so much for reviewing. Always appreciated.
