Very nice poem, Debi. I've never thought of lemons as being anything positive, but your poem, which I like, begs to differ. Great advice from your mom.

Amahra, I thank you so very much! You are so sweet that you could sweeten the sourest lemonade. I can't thank you enough for your kind comments regarding my poem.

An interesting approach! I never thought lemons vary so much! It is a good lesson to learn. There are bad lemons like bad apples and bad people.
Witty and humorous poem!

Thank you, Debi...
I couldn't have said it better myself! LOL
I came across someone that I've kept an eye on, it seems she's become a bitter lemon! After she hit me with a 3, a first review, and called me average, (ouch... lol) I explained to her about how the 'rating system' here isn't really what it says and doesn't really work that way. I told her how when I first got here, I got really messed up with it, and frustrated, and finally resorted to a 'survey review' (which Tom shut down after 122 lol) "Do you want an honest review? Or a 5 and a 'you did fine' review"? I got about a 50/50, with many coming out for a 5 with an honest review... I found out that nobody want's their average messed with. lol
I told her this story I never asked her to change my rating. I told her people just shut me down. She was still very defensive... said that my poem was 'average' and I deserved a 3 so I got a 3! Then she said, "Why are people on this site so sensitive?"
Now, I see that she's posted a poem about being sent down... for whatever reason. I suppose people started using the actual rating system on her too. I shut her off. I just won't review her, not even to tell her she's average.
Sour lemons... ;)

Your poem is an interesting allegory to life and how people deal with life generally. Very well constructed, the rhyming pattern is good and the poem teaches actually a very valuable lesson to whoever takes time to read it. I learned a few things here...
Very well written.

Your mother was a very wise woman. Thank you for sharing her wisdom with us. I like the metaphor for life using lemons. I happen to agree I don't supply the booze either. Won't allow it in my house. LOL I really enjoyed reading.

Definitely an interesting picture of all sorts of lemons, Debi. I really liked your words of the poem and those of your narrative notes. It is so true that not all lemons taste the same. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessings n Hugs!

Hi Ali, I am so happy to say that my best friends here, like you are definitely not lemons. Yet, I still have compassion for some lemons, as the older I get, the easier it is to spot the ones that maybe just a bit bruised, to flat out rotten. I believe there is a story behind every one. And sometimes, but rarely we find a lemon that is a lemon, which are worse kind.
Thanks my sweet friend for your kind review and words. I so appreciate it.

You are most welcome, Debi.

This poem, Lemonade, presented with five AABB-rhymed quatrains, is a fun look at the ways we must approach the lemons in our life. As you allude to it the conclusion: If life deals you lemons, add vodka.

Anymore a lemonade stand is not your dime a glass cocktail. Almost makes your lips purse when asked for $1. I think a chocolate chip cookie would be nice which would make any bad lemon tolerable in price.

Oh Kaiku, you can be so much fun, but at the same time, so realistic.
Yet, if you come to my lemonade stand, all is free. I will even throw in the cookie, since you sat through my theories of different types of lemons.
Maybe not the most interesting subject, but the older I get, the easier it is to spot the ones that maybe just a bit bruised, to flat out rotten. I believe there is a story behind every one. And sometimes, but rarely we find a lemon that is a lemon, which are worse than the rotten ones. But those are for God's restoration! That is when we have to realize that we have done all we can.
Thanks for your awesome review and kind words, my sweet friend.

HA, of course

Your mother had great wisdom. I will not try to convince you that a whiskey sour can be an excellent drink at times. But a lemon tart, a lemon meringue pie, and all thing lemon in cleaning products make life grand! Good job. Terry.

Hi Terry, so thankful that I have the ability now to pick friends, that are not at all lemons. Yet, I still have compassion for some lemons, as the older I get, the easier it is to spot the ones that maybe just a bit bruised, to flat out rotten. I believe there is a story behind every one. And sometimes, but rarely we find a lemon that is a lemon, which are worse kind.
If you come to my lemonade stand, all is free. And since you sat through my theories of different types of lemons, (which maybe isn't the most interesting subject) we have some brandy, whisky and tequila in the house, I can bring out for you.
Thanks for your awesome review and kind words, my dear friend.
