Congratulations on winning the Poem about Children. This is lovely and I can see why it won. The imagery is beautiful and while I'm not Catholic, I do remember my first communion when I was twelve.
Very nicely done.
Blessings
Janet.

Thank you so much, Janet.
I really appreciate you taking
the time to read and review
my poem with 5 stars. I think
there's some similarities of
Catholic and Episcopal and
Lutheran churches.
Thank you for your kind
Congratulations. I hope you
have a wondrous and creative day. Many blessings
to you & your family. ~

It was not unimportant that Jesus expressed great love for children. He said in effect that if men did not possess the innocent quality of children, they could never inherit God's kingdom. That is a very powerful statement. Especially in a world where to be thought of as an innocent is to thought of as someone dumb and weak.

Thank you so much, nomi.
I really appreciate you
reading and reviewing my
poem with 5 stars. Jesus
instructed his disciples to
let the children come to Him.
He blesses them as much as
He blesses older people.
I hope you have a splendid
and creative week. All the
best to you and your family.

Hi, Regina! This is so gorgeous. I want to congratulate you on your win. I can see why this was chosen and if I had voted on this contest. It would have been my choice, hands down. Beautiful memories for you. Best, JohnC

Thank you so much, John.
I really loved weaving this
First Holy Communion poem.
I'm so glad you like it,
thank you for the 5 stars.
I hope your Wednesday is
going well. All the best to
you. ~

I recall looking like Pat Boone, but not recall receiving the communion, which I likely did. What was I twelve, right? Was there only one day a year Holy Communion was administered?

Hi Tom, thank you for taking
the time to read and give my
poem 5 stars. Usually,
Catholic Confirmation is at
12-13 age. When I was seven
I
had my First Holy Communion. I don't know
how Catholic churches now
are planning First Holy
Communion, (if there's more
than one per calendar year.)
I believe mine was on a
Saturday. What you may be
remembering could be your
Confirmation. I hope you're
having a superb New Year
month. All the best to you
and your family. ~

I think you may be right. Confirmation. Around Easter.

I am in my seventies and I still remember my First Communion Day. Your lovely poem captures the sanctity of the sacrament, the pure innocence of childhood, the seeds of faith, and how beautiful we were made to feel.

Thank you so much, Ginda,
how very kind of you. How
wonderful that you recall
your First Holy Communion.
Such sweet memories. I really appreciate the 5 stars.
Many blessings to you. ~

I love how you compared the actual lollies to the children dressed in white at their first communion. I felt like the scene seemed to morph from a garden to the rows of children lining up. The transition of that was remarkable. I really enjoyed this. Gretchen

Thank you so very much,
Gretchen, for the generous
6 star review. I'm deeply
grateful. I'm so pleased this
First Holy Communion poem
has resonated with many of
my fellow poets. I can still
remember my First Holy
Communion all those years
ago. Such sweet memories.
I hope you have a peaceful
Wednesday full of creativity.

This free verse, Lilies of Lucent Light, recalls the proud processions of cherubic children who march forward and to be presented to family and parishioners as followers of Christ. Nice.

Thank you so very much, Bill.
I found a Catholic publication
that accepts poetry that's
previously published, and
submitted this poem. I'll wait
to see if they want it. Have a
splendid Wednesday. ~

They also represent death so I believe. My mother wouldn't have them in the house. I enjoyed reading your lovely nostalgic poem. It has such nice imagery.
