It keeps getting better and better with each chapter. I like the ease with which you go from one group of characters to another. I'm enjoying the story and intend to keep reading.

Thank you. I always worry about the transition and trying to keep the time line in order especially when things are happening near the same time. I appreciate your review. Thanks!

Excellent. The scene between Peter C and Sandy was very vivid - I could almost see bruise marks from his fingers when he released her. She'll need to hide that money quickly. Trouble is, she's involved now and will doubtless be collateral damage. Hoping Hank and Emmy can work fast. Well written. Looking forward to the next development.

Yes, whether unintentionally or out of fear, Sandy has ties to Peter Costello and he's a charming but dangerous man to have as a "friend".

:) I am beginning to like Mister Peter Costello. He has an immense presence in each scene he is in. I am hoping for more parts with this character.

Peter was raised by a gangster, taught charm by his mother, and schooled by the nuns. He's a mixture of the good and the bad. Guess we wait to see what characteristic will trump the others. Smiles, Carol

Peter Costello was once the name of our government's treasurer, the guy in charge of the nation's fiscal policy, is there a connection Carol? Heh heh. So it looks like Sandy's spilt the beans, will there be more spilt blood? Meanwhile Hank and Emmy are carrying out investigations. Well done, Carol, blessings Roy

No connection as far as I know, Roy. LOL Hope their characters were not similar. So much more to come. Thanks for the review.

I'm sorry I read these out of order. This can't be good. So Peter really isn't a nice person after all. I figured he wasn't. He can be very dangerous. I really like this story and can't wait to read more.

Peter is his father's son, and though part of him has an easy charm, he knows power will get him what he wants, whether it's information from Sandy for the jewels or his love, Élizabeth.

    Thanks, Carol

I think I've been reading too many crime stories these past few days, Carol. I had trouble figuring out who everyone is in this one, so had to look at your list. lol This is another great chapter. The scene with Sandy is well narrated, and very emotional. Sandy will have to hide that money though.
I look forward to reading more. Since I won't be able to review after this week, I might just wait and read several chapters at once, to keep it all straight in my mind.

One little thing: "Costello claims neither himself(he) nor his men were involved"

You're most welcome, Carol. I enjoy editing, but the need to review so much just to be able to post my own work, exhausts me. There are plenty of other good editors on here, so you'll be fine. Hugs back.

I must agree with you. since coming back from my own hiatus I have discovered many limitations. I must choose a day to review, a day to answer reviews and then write. I can't accomplish as much as I could before and it costs so much to post. I will struggle on but I fear the time will come when I say goodbye as well.

    Take care-

Yes, it is the increased cost that is prohibitive. Some people seem to have a lot of resources to be able to pay so much.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Sandy did her best, but knowing Costello like she did, she knew she had to tell him what she knew of he would have his goon beat it out of her. Now she has some money, I wonder what she'll do next.
Now Hank and Emmy have a cold cast to solve, it seems to be Costello has a lot to answer for. I hope he's either killed or locked away for the rest of his miserable life. Well, I'm all caught up! Very well done, my clever friend! Love you lots, Sandra xxxx

This just gets better and better! Great character detail and development.

Catch:

I don't know," she whispered.
(missing beginning " )

Also:

"Sounds accurate. Costello claims neither himself nor his men were involved, yet bodies of his "former" employees were found dead or dying in the street and café."

Quotes inside of quotes are grammatical incorrect. The word former should look like this: 'Former'

This is a really good interesting read. A few small things, but your storyline is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much for helping me out with my errors. I have a new computer, and for some reason (most likely me) I can not get my Grammarly or ProWriting to work. Ugh! You have been most helpful. Glad you are enjoying the story and I have managed to fix your suggestions.

Have a great day! Smiles, Carol

Peter got just about all the information from Sandy that she knew even though she tried to whole it back. I thing the bribe has made her day go better in spite of her being frightened.
Hank and Emely have rehashed the background of what happened with the robbery and are coming up with a plan to precede with their investigaion and getting to know each other berrer. I'm enjoying your stroy.

Peter is definitely not someone to be trusted. He acts the charmer but part of him is and will always be his father. Thank you for reading and reviewing. I am glad you are enjoying the story.

You did an excellent job in bringing all the facts to the front. It gives Frank and Emmy some place to start. I'm eager to read the next chapter. Have a wonderful day. Shirley

    Hi, Shirley

Because there are so many characters involved and I need to show the police investigation as well, I feel a part of it is a bit repetitive, but I will try to keep it to a minimum if I can. Thanks for the review.
