Thank you for sharing this. I really like this story and you're doing a great job writing it.
Some of them headstrong, obstinate, and rebellious. Others, like me, self-willed, stubborn, and perhaps even a mite recalcitrant. (doesn't this describe most teenage boys. As a mother who raised four boys, I think at any given time it can describe them all. My husband was Army, so I was a geographic single parent most of their teenage years.)
I felt single most so. (single most???)

I thought Hermitage Hall was an orphanage. Did you get transferred there from where you were originally? It sounds like a terrible place to be. Almost like a prison. I keep hoping you'll get adopted, but now I'm wondering if you have to escape again. I'm immersed in your story and hoping it has a happy ending.

Such hard reading, knowing this is all true. Bullying and mistreatment never gets the desired results, and the sad thing is that they were only interested in power, never the poor boys whose lives were ruined. A powerful and moving piece of writing. Well done.

Well, Brett, here goes my last six and I'm so so glad that I do have to give. You know, these memoirs are the best writing I've seen from you. It's superb.
What an awful place to be. They treated you guys worse than animals. I can't wait to reading what's next. Ulla:)))

Heavy on the BIG. I went to a high school like that and in the worst part of town. Walking home by myself was always a challenge until I got a car. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your book!
Have a great day, and God bless.

That dreaded moment has arrived, facing the music, as a result of running away from Hermitage Hall, facing the miscreantal Tubbo wouldn't have been easy at any time, but I think there's enough defiant rage in you that would dull the pain of any physical, I do know that side, sadist don't get kicks from silence. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

It's too bad there weren't alternatives to Hermitage Hall. Today we've got all kinds of inspections and dietary requirements that would have to be met. It was probably incumbent on the boys to make the worst of their bad situation. How much more trouble than the "Unwanted Dog" be in than to be summoned to the Superintendent's office. judi

I'd like to think that those abandoned boys have better options now. Unfortunately, that hadn't happened in your time. Great story. judi
