I enjoyed your poem about rodeos and the riders. I've been to one or two and watched a few on TV. They are certainly exciting but I always wonder
why anyone would put themselves through that. Your poem helps explain the fascination a cowboy has with the Rodeo.
Thanks for sharing your well crafted poem.

Rodeo events used to air on television as afternoon entertainment. Your poem, with well chosen words and rhymes describes the rugged life of the cowboy that is rarely seen or considered by public spectators. You have provided an insider's view of the risks and difficulties of cowboy life.

You bring to light the tough life a rodeo cowboy has. There are so many chances for them to get hurt and that means, at least to me, that they must do it because they love it. You've made this reader think.

You tell the story about the rodeo cowboy as though you've been there yourself, Willie! Your verse vividly brings their hardened, risk-filled life into sharp focus, shattering any lasting glamour on the rodeo circuit. I like the structuring of your poem: the riding gear no longer in use, expanding to the life they lead and then ending with your final stanza that, despite everything, their legend is set to last. A couple of edits:
Has caused the leather to crac(k)
They'll ride anything that has wheel(s) or hooves.
Excellent and enjoyable! Thank you Willie! Debbie

Your poem captures the rugged and bittersweet essence of a cowboy's life, particularly the realities of the rodeo circuit. The imagery you use, such as the saddle and spurs on a rack, immediately brings to mind the nostalgia and pride that comes with a life spent in the rodeo. There's a clear sense of respect and admiration for the resilience and camaraderie of these cowboys, even as you acknowledge the inevitable toll that this life takes on them.

I never thought of rodeo as being such an extreme sport until I read your poem, seems like the casualties and deaths are quite common. And all for the love of a sport that gets into your very soul and travels through your veins. You can get why not many quit although they know the risks. This is beautifully written with smooth rhythm and rhyme, presentation of the font suits the poem well. I would have liked to see an image, but of course I understand that's personal choice and style. Well done Willie!

Awesome Poem Willie! I loved the rhyming and the message of this poem. A great poem about cowboys! I really liked the message you sent about some will never walk. I know that is so true. Keep up the good work!

nice evocative poem about rodeo and its place in the life of the old west and current western towns as well as rodeo shows are still a thing in many small Western towns only thing to do on a Saturday night

Your poem reminds me of Glen Campbell singing the "Rhinestone Cowboy---chasing your dreams and overcoming obstacles to achieve your goals (which may never happen):
Some win trophies and buckles
Some get a big payday.
The life is tough and some don't make it.
Living the rodeo way.
The above verse, parallels so well with the Rhinestone cowboy (but definitely not physically tough as making it on Broadway) who has been:
"... walkin' these streets so long
Singin' the same old song
I know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of Broadway
Where hustle's the name of the game
And nice guys get washed away like the snow and the rain"
Well done Willie and thanks for sharing.
