Lisamay,
This is a well-written, easy-reading, humorous-serious, nicely-rhymed, cleanly-presented poem!!! It's a wonder hearing from New Zealand!-- FanStory be praised for giving a voice to so many good writers!!!

The claws might have been detritus left over from a human family's picnic on the beach. Was the meat still within? If so then this is probably not the answer but if not it could be. Not really conclusive proof either way.
Still you got your motivation for a neat little poem stating the mystery.

Hi Lisa May, you have the warm region penguins, I forgot the name of the species. I didn't know there
were warm region penguins
until a few years ago. You
write quite well. The photo of
the beach is pretty, wonder
how that poor crab lost its
claws. Have a very bright
and creative week. Blessings

Lisa,
I just gave away my last six. This is such a delightful way to observe nature and the imagination. Keyhole Rock looks an awful lot like crab claws! Great poem.

This poem-based-on-a-picture verse, Crab Claws, is a fun ditty that leads from the dubious de-clawing of some hapless crabs who will not be fiddling any time soon. Good stuff.

You "made do" nicely. They're beautiful specimens, and you honored them well with your perfectly rhyming, easily flowing poem that was fun and easy to read. ("easy" in the sense that I never once cringed because you 'made' something fit.) Well done!

This is an excellent take-a-photo contest entry. I'll bet you took the photo yourself.
It is a wonderful close-up of claws from a crab. The rhymes are well done and the flow is smooth. I see nothing wrong with this so I wish you good luck in the contest!
