Debi, This is a very well written poem you have penned about the woman you are. You used very good and truthful words with very good imagery from the art work you chose. Very talented artist. It is hard to get the past out of our life, but through the help of Jesus Christ we can do that. Thanks for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

Teri, you are one of the most caring and compassionate friends here and I thank you for always giving such supportive and kind reviews.
This prompt was the perfect time for me to not only write about me but finish my testimony. Actually my last will be in a three part story that I wrote more of a detailed version of my family in "I was a ghost and goblin. Thanks once my very lovely friend!

This poem, The Woman That I Am, is a powerful testimony of escaping the trap built by abuse and betrayal and finding the soul-empowering force of God and self. Nice.

As always, you are so very kind Bill. This contest gave me the chance to give a clear picture of who I was, who I have become and say goodbye to it forever more. You're right Bill, a testimony. It did feel empowering and OMGosh, you seem to know me better than I know myself. Lol! Thank you my dear friend for all those insightful and compassionate words and I appreciate it more than you could know.
Thanks again my dear friend!

Hi, Debi, my good friend. It seems you have had some past troubles. When pain and doubt enters, give them to the Lord, he will take care of you. If people realizes that there would be less pain. Very good, Debi.
That beautiful smile in your picture makes me feel you are alright.

Hi Willie, once again you are so very kind, caring and such a compassionate man and I cannot even start to tell you what that means to me, it's my dearest friends like you that helped me make the decision to write about it and feel more comfortable and safe. As a molestation and rape survivor, I have been getting the past out of my system for the first time in my life and I think that it what was needed for me to say goodbye to it forever more. My pastor had been after me to write a testimony for years and I just couldn't make myself that vulnerable before. Sadly he passed away last year from Covid, but I think he would be happy that I said it all in a couple poems. In fact I think I will write that in my author's note. I have touched on it one last time in an autobiography story that I wrote and will be split into three parts around Halloween. It's one of the rare times that I step out of my comfort zone also to write a not so short story, called "I was a ghost and a goblin."
You are such a wonderful friend and I thank you with all my heart for this lovely review, words and of course your gracious gift of six stars. Someday soon my friend I hope to repay your kindness! Debi

No repayment needed, I'm here if you need to talk. Just keep your chin up and that smile on your face. Your friend. My license has expired, but I

Did you receive your review nomination?

Thank you, good friend. you honor me too much. Just keep on smiling, that's enough for me. Willie

I never quite understood why you put a sign on your back--that section was a little hard for me to understand. Otherwise, I think this is a good poem.
I do think your granddaughter deserves a great deal of credit for the wonderful artwork. Talent must run in the family.
Best wishes.

Maybe you haven't heard of that phrase, but it is a well known one and quite earth shattering. (whenever I don't understand something I always google to see what it means ). People nowadays have access to help after being molested and raped, but years ago little girls hid within & inside themselves, become people pleasers and ended up being love starved, which later on set themselves up to be abused by others such as boyfriends, husbands.
A woman who has lived that horrible life is saiid to be wearing a sign on her back that tells others to treat her just as badly, by her neediness and pain.
I think it's maybe hard for anyone else to understand. But thanks for reading, reviewing and your lovely comments for my granddaughter.
-
Thanks for your explanation, Debi. However, that phrase may not be as well known as you think--I am a case in point.
Best wishes.
-
No problem. I wasn't asking for any changes just to clarify the meaning. It's nothing anyone chooses to wear. I truly appreciate your response!! I've never known you to be anything but kind and fair. Thanks my friend!

This was a beautiful journey through a part of your life in poem. The font was absolutely gorgeous. The poem flowed very well, stayed on topic, and keeps the audience interested.

I am not the only one to have said, on several occasions, that writing in a font that is too difficult for tired old eyes to decipher is like forcing cakes on a diabetic. Cruel and insensitive. If I were to give marks for visual impact, this should win. But the content, I cannot judge. I will regretfully henceforth do as my schoolteachers did when they refused to mark my homework written too small, refrain from reviewing. Kate xx

I can't thank you enough my lovely friend for those very kind and caring words. As much as I am never happy to hear of other's suffering, it is what bond us all together with compassion for each other through God's love and healing. Thank you again my sweet friend!

"Now when the day is over, I barely see where I came from
I look myself straight in the eye; praise God who I've become
My life that serves much purpose now, no longer is a sham
Because I'm proud to show the world, the woman that I am"
What a difference we experience when we realize that God made us uniquely what He wanted and that we are perfect in His site Well done on this, Debi.
