Good concept as a writing prompt/contest.
Personally, I loathe and despise reading cliche's by published authors. They should be creative enough to be original.

Lol, it's a shame this won't count for the voting because it gave me a chuckle and I think it's very clever. You can edit your contest instructions if you want to from the page, although it's obviously a bit unfair if it's already been around for a while.

Ah yes Rachelle. It's much clearer now to me. I was setting off on a full story... I will think again, but this is usually how I start thinking about monostiches, so I'm not certain I'll want to use one up for this. We'll see. Kate xx

Miss Merri was the friend who suggested I put an example out there, and was she ever wise. So many members have written to say they appreciated the extra clarification.

It can be anything. Just a quick little theme-and-variation on a cliche so that it's no longer a cliche but something new and fresh. Kind of looking for one-liners.
Thank Miss Merri for suggesting I write the further explanation. She's always so smart and savvy, that one!!

I like the name of your contest and thanks for giving an example. Even not being a newbie, it's really tricky creating the contest and then finding out that you can't edit it after someone enters it. So I hope you have good participation!

Yes! You're so right. I'm going to file this under "lesson learned." Miss Merri was the one who suggested I do that, and she was so right! Next time, I'm going to have her edit my proposals before I put them into the irretrievable "Active" status!!
