What a miraculous story about a horse who had a stubborn approach for its trainer. And finally gave in...I love to watch horses when they do their little prancing and dancing at the arena.

Thank you and thanks for the six stars. I appreciate them. April was a difficult animal but she came out okay. Hugs.

Hello Prettybluebird a good day to you. I hope this finds you well. I enjoyed your story, it just goes to show that no matter how much you think you know, there is always more to learn. Good job and good luck!

What a beautiful horse, PBB. Your story behind April is well written and shows your perseverance and dedication to her. My dad always had pacers at Saratoga raceway, and I worked in the barns as a young boy. I have never lost respect for these beautiful creatures. I've been bitten and stepped on a few times, so I understand the wrath, lol. I loved this story. Best, JohnC.

Thank you. April was a difficult horse. She had no respect for anyone or anything. Hugs.

Nice story. Very well told. Good work.
I'll bet that your gentle way still works for most horses.
If I remember right, Monte Williams tells a very interesting book titled, I think, 'The man Who Whispers to Horses' (not 'The Horse Whisperer')
Best wishes.

Thank you. John Lyon's method is not cruel in any way. It simply wears the horse down until she accepts the trainer as the alpha animal and wants to bond with them. Hugs

I think that in this story you truly have spoken those true words. The teacher needs a teacher and it is so true. I believe you. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I'm happy April finally decided to be cooperative. I have often wondered why some animals are just plan ornery. LOL I enjoyed reading and want to wish you the very best with this contest.

Thank you. April turned out to be a very nice horse but she always needed an experienced rider. Some horses are like that and will never be a child's horse. Hugs.

This was a pretty good story but it went on too long about April's orneriness. My suggestion would be to shorten the first paragraph and maybe a few of the other paragraphs too. I loved when you got to how you broke her in and more about how the teacher affected you would be in order.
Otherwise, it was enjoyable to read and I would love to learn more.

Thank you. The general idea was to make the reader understand how some horses are more difficult than others. I would have loved to explain more but the contest had a 500 word limit. Hugs.

I suggested you use fewer words and shorten your paragraphs, not lengthen them.
    Oh well,

Pretty April Babe is a neat story that proves that learning never ends. Necessity is the mother of invention, just as it is the opening for new and better techniques to accomplish what is needed. Well told and an important reminder to keep the gifts going to the goal.

A nice story the illustrates the fact that animals have personalities. Horses are very intelligent, so I am sure that they could be a handful if they had a mind to.

Thank you. Every horse I worked with was different. Some were fearful, some were calm, and then there was April. If she was a wild horse she probably would have been the dominant lead mare. She was willful and stubborn as well as just plain mean. Hugs.

She is a pretty horse despite not having a good disposition. This is a marvelous story of overcoming a challenge and what a challenge it was. This is an excellent teaching tale for the contest.
