I am new to Haiku although I understand the form. I love this though. It's a good contender for the competition, breezy and refreshing, an excellent entry. Good luck and well done kindest regards Kevin

Great entry for the Haiku contest.

Good syllables count and connection between lines. I like your presentation and imagery. It flows well with descriptive words that paint a clear mental picture. The satori is clever. Shady spot... I like how you described the sun.

Good luck in the contest.

This a wonderful haiku, in that it contains all elements by definition.
You have captured a moment in time that if not observant will be missed.
I am a lover of the sky, sun, moon, and clouds, let me not forget the precious
rainbows. I have a tremendous appreciation for sunsets and rises, and this haiku
truly spoke to me.
Thanks for sharing.

Hey, this time of year with almost every day in the 90s, we really appreciate a cloud or two obscuring the hot sun for a while!
We have mostly Cirrus clouds during the summer, this and spotty, not much good for anything except for the odd shapes they take, I have a giant bird passing by at about 40,000 feet.
Good workirish

I never thought of clouds being the stars of the daytime. That's an interesting way to put it, though the sun is also a day star. Looking up at the clouds on a summer day is a childhood favorite of mine. Thanks for sharing.

As usual a really good haiku from one of the best high princesses of this realm, and a good entry for the contest, good luck. I will say in Texas today there is no respite...105! Yikes. Good job. Terry.

You are welcome, by the way, I posted a story "Ode to Humpshistle" a little while back, it is in my portfolio, and there is a little "shoutout" to you in it, if you care to look.

I've never seen the sun referred to as a bright day star before, but that's what it is for us, isn't it? One always finds clever words and a unique way of looking at the ordinary in your poetry.

Thanks for sharing another interesting read:-)

Hello Michelle,
This is an excellent 4-5-4 poem for the contest
with wonderful concrete imagery of nature and connection in lines one and two, plus a very good contrasting satori line.
If it was simply a poem, I'd keep the two colors,
but, as a haiku in a contest, I'd recommend only one color.
Simplicity is one of the elements of haiku.
Well done.
Best wishes.
Robert

I remember working in the fields as a child--rejoicing when the clouds covered the sun for just a little while. Your excellent ultra-concise haiku
called forth those memories.

A lovely Haiku obeying the requirements of the form and incorporating nice alliteration. Your choice of picture to support your work is delightful. Good luck with your writing. Franky
