While I respect your opinions and your theories, I must say that if you believe in God, then you must pay attention to what he says about life and death. When he created the first human pair from whom all subsequent human life descended. He created them to live forever in perfection. Their willful disobedience caused them to lose their state of perfection which mean they had to dies, just as they had been warned. So, death is the result of willful disobedience. The Bible says that at death the dead know nothing, are aware of nothing and are capable of nothing. However, every person who ever existed is alive in God's memory and he is able to resurrect each and every one with a perfect body if he so desires. This is especially true of those men he called friends, Moses, Job, Noah, King David, and some others. The apostles are all in heaven with Jesus and certain other disciples are either there already or soon will be by the time this worldly system ends. I have so much more I could say on this subject, if you would like to further investigate, DM me, if not I understand, and it is ok.

I appreciate the respect you have my opinions and theories and offer you the same for yours. I even agree that, if I claim to believe in God, then I must pay attention to what He has to say life and death. At that point is where you and travel slightly different paths -- in other words, we may both be listening to the same Creator, but we hear different things. Perhaps, in His perfection, he set about to create a world where we could learn different things, hear different things, feel different things, etc and yet all be having the same, but unique experience. With God, all things are possible and, my favorite: God knows no conditions.
Thanks so much for reading and for sharing. I appreciate. ann

Please investigate Job chapter 14 in its entirety.
-
Will do. I consider Job a play - not an actual happening to an actual man, but rather a lesson with many facets to the knowledge available through study.

Thought provoking writing!!! A topic we consider often as we age. I enjoyed its discussion. It provokes the question of our eternal existence, how do we fit into the cosmic millions of years existence, what explains human differences, how does one interpret the existence of evil, the vast number of religious beliefs. Great piece of writing.

That was interesting. I would think you would do well in the contest because it is a some what unique idea. I am a little perplexed because you said you don't believe in an afterlife, yet if I understand correctly, you do believe that a person's 'consciousness' continues on as it migrates toward the Creator. I am curious how you define life. I always look at life as a consciousness. But an interesting piece and good luck in the contest.

I said no 'afterlife' because my thought is that life is eternal rather than now, death & life again. We live forever. This portion of our existence happens to be in this time and this condition. Thanks so much for reading and commenting. ann

ahh, I see now. No after life because life is eternal.

Excellent entry for the ... Your view of the afterlife contest contest. ...
Nice presentation. Your words flow well in a very descriptive and clear way.
I really enjoyed your story. I guess a lot of people are curious to know what comes after we die. I'm a lot like you. I have explored other religions and came to the same conclusion. Well done!
Good luck in the contest.

This is a really interesting piece of philosophical writing, Ann. You've raised a good question, one I'm sure many think about. I, however, find it challenging just to think about the rest of this life, where I will end up, and can I control how/when it will end. Thanks for sharing your beliefs.

I appreciate your thoughts and your comments. This is a subject I enjoy discussing and learning from others where we have common ground. I don't think of 'this life' as a separate time. Life is eternal and we go through many phases as we learn and grow to some eventual reconnection to our creator. I appreciate your comments and your time. ann

That is a novel view, "continuing" rather than "after." I think you may have convinced me because i believe we immediately, upon death, in the twinkling of an eye, go to where we are going to be, continuing.
Para 2, 17th sentence: Add (as) between (well) and (Islamic)
Para 5, 2nd sentence: Add comma after (occupy)
Para 6, 3rd sentence: Remove comma after (forgotten)
Deep, deep, thoughts, well articulated.

What an interesting topic. One that I, and I'm sure many others, ponder as well. I believe it was Linda Ronstadt who said, "The question is not is there life after death, it's is there life before death."
I thought that was so on point. We should cherish the moments we have now. Wonderful and thought-provoking post.

This is a fascinating read - I value the opinion of others on this subject and know people who agree with you. I'm of the opinion that we can't know what is beyond, but I also believe we are all connected while on this earth.
Very well expressed and thought provoking.

This is a well-written consideration of what comes after death. I liked very much the term 'continuing life' with its connotations that after death we will remember our experiences on Earth. Hopefully, we will ponder and learn from our mistakes. Kate xx

Anne Muma,
Your writing renewed my hope in that life on earth is not the final curtain call. I believe in a benign, loving God who yearns for us to be near Him after this life "ends." A good Christian once told me that God does not waste anything--therefore our lives and love for one another will continue forever.
Thank you for such a wonderful read.
Blessings,
Cindy
