Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I loved the story. Absolutely brilliant. I'll be honest and say I did not enjoy the dialogue between you and George but the ending just blew me away. Very well written. All the best in the contest.
With regards

Thank you. It's fiction so there is no George or me. It is just a silly story that could happen, I suppose. Thank you for the six stars. I appreciate them.

PBB,

This story is very well written and believable throughout. I have to admit that after the second mention of "weapon" I figured out "skunk." When we were working long and odd hours and had 3-4 dogs, we built a dog door to their fenced yard. One time I came home to find the oldest girl dog lying proudly beside a skunk's tail under the dining room table. I assume she ate the rest of it.

Thank you. What did your dog smell like after eating a skunk? My dog had to go to the bathroom at night so I let her out. She came back in the house sinking to high heaven. At three in the morning, I was in the milk house scrubbing her down with tomato juice. It was bad.

The dog didn't have much odor. But I've bathed several with tomato sauce or juice, whichever I had on hand. Skunk smell makes me wick to my stomach. I really can't handle it.

A very well-written and clever story. The ending was a surprise after building up the story of an "intruder."

Good luck in the contest and thank you for the smile.
best wishes,
Mary

This was a great story--engaging, suspenseful, and twisted at the end.

Not only that but there were no spelling errors. It was just delightful. Best wishes.

Thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the silly story. I love to write short, funny stories with a surprise. I wish my muse would send me more of them. Hugs.

There is a kind of universal (and amusing) realism in this piece. I can see the cats looking horrified at their unexpected companion and feel the desperation to get him out into the wilds where he belongs.

Thank you. Cats are smart enough to avoid skunks. Not so with dogs. My dog got sprayed a couple of times because she wanted to tangle with them. Hugs

prettybluebirds, this is so
entertaining! My late mother
in law, "shared," her trailer
with a wild opossum. They
would pass each other in the
narrow hallway. No joke. I
really love your story. In the
trailer my late husband and I
lived in, I suspected there was
a rat knocking around under
the sink. There were the mice
droppings, and this rat's bigger ones. When my late
husband passed away unexpectantly, I sold the
trailer to a house flipper. They
had to call in an exterminator.
The rat and mice poison I
bought from the store didn't
work. Anyway, blessings to
you. Have a creative upcoming weekend. ~

Thank you and thanks for sharing your stories with me. I can't imagine living with a possum either. Hugs.

ROFL! Yes, it's a good thing you didn't startle the skunk too much or he/she would have left you something to remember him/her for a long time to come. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Ah I was wondering what this dark menace, fortunately for us we don't have any such animal, and I've only seen them on the TV screen, beautifully written my friend, and good luck in the contest, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you. We have lots of the critters in this part of the country. Sometimes they get hit on the roads and stink up every car that passes. Hugs

Haha, you had me there for a minute! What a surprising twist in a well-told story. I can definitely see why a skunk would be unwelcome in your kitchen. And thank goodness it wasn't the human kind of intruder with a weapon! Good job. Good luck in the contest!

Good story and the suspense was well-written. I thought up until the end the intruder was a bear. it was well-played being a skunk. Good you used a kitten as the graphic because it allows the element of a surprise to stay intact. I liked also that the font was larger and easier to read. This was a good story to just pop into your mind. It deserves the recognition it has already received. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you. Yep, I thought about putting a picture of a skunk but decided it would give the ending away. I put a picture of an upset kitten instead. Hugs.
