Keep writing pieces like this one and we'll help you keep a positive perspective. This is thoughtful and reflective and ultimately positive. We have been challenged more than usual these last two years, but in the end, it's really up to us to choose how we focus our perspective.
A very nice story.

Hello Pam,
Thanks so much for your kind review and your thoughtful comments. It's really easy to get caught up in all the bad news and overlook all the great things that come our way every day. You're so right, we have to choose to be happy. It's somewhat like the old song of years ago, Desiderada mentioned.
Have a blessed day gal.

Thanks for the reminder. A book laced with humor is important to keep on the shelves. I get downhearted too when I see what age is doing to my health and looks. It helps though to compare myself with others who are in worse condition. And to be honest, I don't want to be young again and start over. Not the way the world is now.

Thanks so much for the fine review and comments Spitfire. I've often thought in recent years how I wouldn't want to have to deal with what my kids and grandkids will have to deal with. I sure wouldn't mind feeling like I did when I was forty though.
Have a blessed evening.

This is a great piece of writing that explains how rediscovering the work of a particular writer, changed your outlook. I do think the middle section becomes too much a list of Fulghum's books. I'd like to see your discussion of his work couched more in your reactions to it.
. "There are so many great things that happen to all of us every day, that perhaps they lose their value in our eyes." I would suggest trying this as 2 sentences for more impact.
. Maybe, "I'm reminded of my. . " needs more of a transition....like " All this reminded me...."

Very well written. Very well said. Good work.
You don't sound very negative to me! lol
I'm glad that you didn't check up on a an author of darker subject matter. You might've looked for a burning bed to lie in.
Best wishes.

Hello Wayne,
Thanks so much for the great review and comments. You made me laugh with your last line. I really like Fulghum. He's got a great sense of humor and a way of looking at life that is so different than me that it's always refreshing to read his stuff.
Have a blessed evening.

I found a lot of joy and amusement in your piece. I had never heard of this author. I suppose I will have to look for his work. Thanks for sharing! We do have a lot for which we should be thankful.

Hello Jessi,
Thanks so much for your fine review and comments. I don't think you would be disappointed if you read any of his books. He's quite a funny, and very intelligent man. He spent I think twenty years as a Unitarian minister, has been a cowboy, an actor I believe and a philosopher. I love the way he looks at life, he's so positive. I do hope you check him out.
Have a blessed evening gal.

This write crosses several emotional planes, which I enjoy experiencing when reading. I think a sign of a great writer is to tape into the readers senses causing them to become active rather than passive while escaping into the writers world. Don't lose sight of your talent and how it positively affects your readers.

Wow K. L. thanks for such a positive review. I will have to go back and see what I did so I can replicate it in the future. Your review just reminds me again that any talent I have comes from God above. At times I've read something that I wrote and I'm surprised at how good it turned out. Like I say, it's nothing I have naturally. I really appreciate your great review gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Well, I can tell you, you can turn it around Tom. Some of my mother's saying, "if I'd have married the right man, I'd have been a better mother" and, "This damn government should pay us poor pensioners more", (the pension is equal to the basic wage) which is liveable. There's lots more, but I decided despite that poor example, I wouldn't think like that, you can turn it around Tom. I didn't want to give my kids that inheritance. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Hello Roy,
Thanks so much for the fine review and comments. You're right, we have to power to make changes to our lives, we just have to have the willpower to do it. I'm glad that you decided early in your life not to be a victim, but to be proactive in the way you wanted to live.
Have a blessed evening.

Hello Theodore,
Thanks so much for the generous review and delightful comments. I think Fulghum has such a unique view on life, and while I don't always agree with everything that he says, he has a way of making me stop and think about things. It's a wonderful way to live and one that I hope to adopt more as time goes on. I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment on my story.
Have a blessed day.

Ah, the power of gratitude and awareness. You make a good case for both in these difficult times. I would call this an essay and it was an uplifting read. You may be a pessimist, but you have something most pessimists don't; the ability to benefit from an alternative point of view. Thank you for sharing that special gift and for passing it along in writing and for doing so without being preachy or condescending. It's a good deed done. I often feel like you did, just getting through the days...but now I have your work to read and be reminded.

Hello Olivanne,
Thank you so much for the wonderful comments and the exceptional rating. I sometimes forget what power there is in words. We should yield that power thoughtfully and with empathy towards our audience. I'm honored and humbled by your kind words.
Have a blessed day.
