You have created a such a pretty , evocative poem that supports your thesis with the calming flow of your words and metre. Very nicely done all around.

Excellent entry for the Rhyming Poetry Contest.
Wonderful imagery and presentation. The rhymes don't seem forced. Good luck in the contest.

-Very nice image and presentation, Janet.
-I appreciate your notes.
-This is a an excellent poem with
vivid imagery and effective rhyme.
-You paint a good word picture of this scene.
-It's hard to pick a few images because
they are all very good.
-I like the first line because it sets the tone
with a peaceful feeling.
-In fact, I realized that each first line does
the same thing for the rest of the stanza.
"Bucolic twisting labyrinth" is another one I particularly like.
-A very good closing verse.
-I enjoyed reading this and hope you do well in the contest.

Your poem is very well written. I like the songbirds; they bring a melody to lighten the day. If you moved to be near your grandchildren, that is a wonderful, happy place.

This is a good one, Janet. "A rhubarb blush" is a phrase that I have never seen. Very creative. The last two lines really finish this poem off very nicely.

Thank you Paul for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I read the phrase (a rhubarb blush sometime ago and have been waiting for a time when it would fit a poem) Thanks for noticing. I always look forward to your insightful reviews.

Loved the read. Thank you for sharing! Your rhyming poem is brimming with all things serene. It's nature where I find my balance time and time again. In the vastness of the universe, how blessed are we that upon our own pebbly paths we find our way?

Yes, we all need that special place, that haven where we can find peace and tranquility. It helps us regain our focus to be able to deal with the anxieties of life. Thank you inviting us into yours!

You describe the countryside vividly enough to create a picture in my mind. Your word choices of "bucolic" and "verdant" create a unique interest as they are not often used by many on this site. Your meter flows nicely and is easy to follow. What I loved most is that the poem made me believe that the countryside was where you found contentment until I read the last stanza. How sweet! Nicely done.
Furthermore, your poem adhered to the rhyme scheme rules outlined in the contest.
I look forward to reading more from you.

Had a six-bagger to give, and I like the whereabouts you have written of. Must be in the Blue Ridge mountains. We live not far from Tryon. Retired from where?

Thank you Tom for your encouraging review. Thank you too for the special sixth star.
We lived near Asheville for 15 years so I know where Tryon is. Beautiful country and often inspires my creative side. We now live near Raleigh through originally from NW Pennsylvania.
Small world my friend.

This is a very beautiful and very well written rhyming poem you have penned for the contest. I love the imagery you chose to go with your words also. It made me stop and think about a restful place to be where the air is cool and the sun is shining down. Thank you for sharing. Best wishes in the contest. Teri
