A riveting verse that slams home the blight of war and power unchecked. Particularly effective when you offer names: "Anastasia, Alina, Daria, Kateryna, or to the men and boy's; Ivan's, Oleksiy, Petro, Fedir."
We dine on casualty numbers as though they were impersonal as Excel data.
No. Never were, never will be.
I'm anxious and angry... It's as though Dahmer was about to behead his latest victim...and the police are standing outside hit door threatening to cut off his unemployment check.
Sanctions. Sanctions to a madman? Are incentives!

A very good description of what is going on in Ukraine. The world stands by as a country is destroyed. This has been one the worst experiences in my life - watching the events that are taking place.

Much has been written about Putin's posturing and the horrific situation that we now find ourselves in. This is one of the better commentaries I have read, and I got a great deal of satisfaction out of reading it.

Loved this! So tragic: I'm wishing that this was fiction, but whatever the genre would be this is written very well. Adding the names to it, just brings the reality into focus. The world needs to act before it goes any further.

Cheryl, yes wouldn't this be so much better for the people of Ukraine shoud this but a bad dream. but alas, it is not ---and that is so very sad.

This is a harsh awakening. Why,? I ask. Too many people, world wide in government, closed their eyes, turned their heads too long. Now look at the world. Obviously, COVID-19 is not enough to tyrants. Greed, evil for money. Thank you for this awareness poem.
