You did it! You snagged my imagination and delighted my soul. This is just the kind of story I thrive on! Your suspense is excellent - you put the bumps in all the right places...easing into a wonderful soft ending spot. I see no errors, and as my Grandmother was from the UK, we often use spellings and idioms from that language base. Waiting for more!!

I think you have a very strong opening here, you created this strange, warm sort of eeriness. We feel a subtle magic in this house, a benevolent magic, not evil, actually quite romantic. At the end of the chapter there is this sense of this woman having lived in the house with another lover who is waiting for her to return. There's a wonderful sense of suspense about it. We can imagine all sorts of stories coming to light here, and I think this could be a great, interesting book. Spooky in a different way. The dialogue with the real estate agent was crisp and realistic. estory

What a lovely review, Estory, thank you so very much. You have listed all the things I'd hoped to portray in this chapter! I'm really encouraged by this review, thank you, my friend. Love and hugs. Sandra xxx

Is this a fantasy novel? It sounds like one in the end when she felt caressed by an invisible man. It would be helpful if you could put a summery of the book in the author's notes and character introduction.
Looking forward to reading more.

This is chapter 1. No, it's not a fantasy novel, but it is a novel. So far there has only been two characters and an unknown 'ghost' so not much to put in the character's introduction yet, but it soon will have. And no one puts a summery of a book that they've only just started. You are in at the beginning so I hope you'll join me and read on. Thanks for reading! Warm hugs, Sandra xx

I loved this. I think Margot was already dead and later Mr. Reid tells her so. Maybe not. Maybe, I should buy the book. What I didn't like was it was in double spacing, I'm sure it wasn't like that when it got published but then again... maybe it was.

Hi Daniel, thank you so much for reading chapter one of my new novel. It hasn't been published yet, it's still being written. I don't know why it's in double spacing, I'll go and check that out. I'll be posting a new chapter every Sunday, I hope you come along and read them. I liked your thoughts on this chapter, so you'll have to come back to find out if you are right ... or not!! Have a wonderful 2022! Warm hugs, Sandra x

Another triumph, Sandra. First, you pique the reader's interest with your prologue, then you reel them in with your beautifully written first chapter. A little bit of 'This Time That Time' with a spicy twist, it goes without saying that we will all return each Sunday for another fix. Bravo!

Thank you so much, Alexa, for another wonderful review and that sixth star award! You are so kind. I'm so pleased you are enjoying this book. Yes, I guess This Time-That Time with its ghosts would come to mind, but I can't really picture either Veronica or Mildred in one of these scenes, lol!!! Warm hugs, my dear friend. :)) xxxx Sandra

Hi Sandra,
I started reviewing this last night and then my computer crashed. It was a very funny review as well... shame you'll not see that one now. lol
I think your picture needs some work unless a half beheaded woman was what you were going for?
because it was so conveniently placed in the middle of town, - it may be an idea to name the town. It just helps to root the piece.
I used to live very close to Crawley, West Sussex. Irrelevant but there you go.
I don't know if you've read 'The Magic Cottage' by James Herbert but this reminded me of it a bit as I read about the house and its description.
Excellent stuff yet again, writing is super and the story is drawing me in. Nice

I haven't read that book, I'll check it out when I've finished this one. I don't want to have snippets of his book stick in my head and unwittingly put them in mine. Another reader likenend it to 'The Ghost and Mrs Muir. Now that one I have read, and watched the film. I loved it, but this book is nothing like that one.
I agree with your suggestion about naming the town, I'll do that.... I've just done it...
Every day for the past five years she?d passed by the window on her way to the bank, where she was employed as a teller, and not once looked in. There was no reason to. She didn?t want to sell her flat because it was so conveniently placed in the middle of Rumsey high street, a thriving Hampshire market town and a stone's throw from where she worked. Why would she even consider moving...
I've just changed the spelling of Romsey where I live and I'm close to the New Forest which is the perfect location. Thanks for that suggestion.
I'm so pleased you are liking the story so far, and I hope to keep you chained to FS so you continue reading. Your input is fantastic and very welcome.
I wish I'd read the review you lost. I do enjoy your humour. Thank you so much for this amazing review and that golden sixth star! Love and hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra
ps I forgot to mention the picture, I downloaded it from Pixabay a free site where you can use the artists work commercially and change or add to it. It was like this when I found it and only changed the hair colour and added the title. It's not going to be the final cover. You're right about her head, but in my mind I imagined her half in and out of time. :)) xx

Hi Sandra and Happy New Year. I'm so excited that you have a new story too. The prologue was a great teaser. I'm looking forward to what follows. If Sundays will be your release day I'll have something to look forward to.
Hugs:)

Aw, thank you, Sally! I'm glad you like the beginning of my new book, that says such a lot. Yes, Sundays will be my release day, the prologue was to get that part out the way so I could start it properly with this one. My sexy 'ghost' is one of the main characters, so you'll soon get to know him. I look forward to reading your reviews, they were always super good. Thank you so much for giving me the golden sixth star, my wonderful friend!! Have a lovely week. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

Superb beginning. Looks like a supernatural mystery .I would not guess and will patiently wait for the coming chapters..The first chapter dealt with a dream and here the dream man's presence is felt... Curious.

Really sounds like a good beginning chapter/story. I'll keep searching for your novel as you write each chapter; does it sounds like she is moving into a ghost-like house; will she be scared?

Thank you so much, Rosemary, for this really lovely review and the golden sixth star! I'm so pleased you are going to come along for the ride. I've tried to categorize it, but can't find the right one. I'll wait until I've written a few more chapters and then perhaps one of you will be able to help me out. I'm hopeless at that! It won't be horror scary, I can tell you that much! Lol. Thanks again, my friend. Warm hugs, Sandra xx
