A truly wonderful family story. Looking back on myself, I had similar problems but like Grandpa, I pick up the tricks gradually and became a manager of a computer center. Thanks for sharing and all the very best in the contest, Kit.

Thank you so much, Kit, for your time, and for your very encouraging review. I greatly appreciate the honour of six stars as well. Well done to you in becoming the manager of a computer center too!

I love how you managed to connect the young with the older generation by using technology and sparking new thoughts in their brains. Often the young look at the old and shake their heads...you know "you wouldn't understand." I like that your story made the connection and lots of love and good vibes were flowing.
Hugs, Carol

Hi Carol, thank you so much for such a lovely review. (My mother is gradually learning to play games on an iPad with her great-grandson - her first baby steps into a world of technology she has been reluctant to face up to. That's all she can do as yet, but hopefully it will be a new beginning for her. It really would bring new life to her if she could be connected more with those of us who live more than a thousand kilometres away.)

How sweet! And what an unusual man to want to learn something new at his advanced age. I think real old age is when we refuse to learn new things. I like the refrain of the "links of love in a chain" said by both Grandpa and Milly! Best wishes in the contest!

Thank you so much Helen. What a lovely review. It's great when the different generations can respectfully learn from each other. This fiction is loosely base on my mother who is just learning to play some games on an iPad, but nothing else as yet! She's nearly 93.

That's amazing! My mom is computer literate and at 89, she keeps learning new things. But it's my dad who is so difficult, grumpy and refuses to accept anything outside of his own opinions. Sigh.

I can relate to say, "one is never to learn" especially when its your grand daughter or grand son.

He can do so much already on his iPad. I'm so proud of him! Now he's really connected to us in everything, every day! We're like links of love in a chain!"

A superb angle on the Family story prompt and so beautifully paced and narrated - so appropriate for our times as all age groups get acquainted with technology

This is a lovely family story for our modern world, Wendy. It's amazing how easily young children get into all the technology, and it's wonderful that this granddaughter just assumed her grandpa could too. You've made it happen in this story, and I love the conclusion: "We're like links of love in a chain." Good luck in the contest.

A delightful story. What a powerful means of connectivity this technology has become. One of the things that I like best about it, which you have brought out rather nicely in this, is the way the young are able to teach old dogs a trick or two!

Thank you so much. A lovely review.
Yes, that is so true, the generations can learn from each other and respectfully. It is wonderful.

-This is a very good story, Wendy.
-Excellent use of detail makes it believable.
-You capture the hesitancy of grandpa
because he doesn't feel he can keep up
with the new technology.
-He has a good friend and it seems
grandpa is a quick learner.
-I like the conclusion as the granddaughter
is excited about all the things her
grandfather has done, and now
they're "like links of love in a chain!"
-A good entry; good luck in the contest.
-Have a great 2022, too!

Your grandpa can make e-card and do Zoom calls. It's very impressive. I'm glad it keeps him busy and mentally active. He should join FanStory and write poetry.
Well done.

Virtual six. Well-written and kept me engaged. Heart-warming in its concept of links in a chain down through multiple generations. Loved the message at the end of the story.
