Yes, Liz, it seems your editor, and likely all, are sticklers for the strict usage of everything right, correct, with no room for anything else. I enjoyed your little rant. I like the use of your creativity with vulgar words and the cross-outs. I understand where both you and your editor are coming from, however, it seems there's little wiggle room.

My fans get my humor--perhaps some readers there would be amused once they got used to my style--but that's moot, because stories such as this wouldn't be accepted to the publication!
I get the best of both worlds here and there--they do take most of my humor pieces as written--indeed, the stickler editor loved one with the swear words.

I have had my ups and downs with editors. I have debated some of them. In the end I wrote what I wanted.
I downloaded a self-editing Ebook from Prowritingaid. And it has been extremely helpful.

The other places I publish are nothing like this place. I'm working on a book and that is painful. Most of it is poetry, but I also have flash stories in accompaniment.

If you poke fun at yourself, that's a good thing-- it means no one else can get your ire up by doing it! Keep on trucking. BTW, where do you live? I would guess you're a New Yorker.

I guessed you for a Long Islander. I went to the state college in Albany, NY and grew up in Watertown, NY. Couldn't stand the cold. I've lived in Florida for the past fifty years.

OMG! How awesome is that. Did you go to the old campus? If so, what hall did you live in. I was in Alden Hall. Never joined a sorority . Rush was too much and I contacted mononucleous (sp) from my first boyfriend who also gave it to his girlfriend back home.

I remember the mono from your book. I don't recall the hall--name some if you can and maybe it will jog my memory.

I got mono also--not from kissing--never got a date.

It is highly infectious. It took me six weeks to get over it. Maybe a carrier (like my first ever date) sneezed near you!
I wrote about my years in college in poetry form in a small paperback called Prince Charming, Where Are You? I think it's still available on Amazon, if you're interested.

Well, at least you can exercise all your literary freedoms with your FanStory followers. We don't mind at all. You can be comfortable with us. It's like wearing a pair of comfortable jeans, or in the case of your editor - having to "dress up" and be on your best behaviour all the time!
