Every day this aging body of mine feels beaten and battered by my grandchildren and maintaining the house. So I guess since I live in the country, I can freely say, "I am all stoved up." LOL, Or maybe not.

Hugs, Carol

That depends on whether or not you want people to understand what you're saying. Lol! Many days I am all stoved up, too! Thanks for the great review. Blessings.

Wonderful choice--certainly, as you say, few would have heard this one! I've heard the word stave but never would have guessed the past tense was stove--I've written staved off all this time!

This is a good story on the explanation of idiom - all stoved up. I have never heard of that saying before so it was refreshing to learn a new one. I guess in the farming community, it would be a common term. Thank you for sharing this well written and informative read.

This is an interesting entry for the book about idioms. I don't think I had ever heard that one before, "all stoved up", but I can understand how the farmer felt after working hard all day in the hay field.

Virtual six! Thank you so much for teaching me the etymology and the fascinating background of this idiom! That's great to know. I was thinking he was particularly warmed up! But after you explained the words, it makes sense!

Well written in this particular format, thanks for sharing. I'll know exactly what is meant if someone ever hits me with that saying in the future.
