Your topical tableau underlines the severity of current events. It is such a backward step for Afghani women. Your use of 'stone age' is accurate as the Taliban use this punishment. It is a humanitarian mess, unsolvable. All those years of attempting to strengthen the country into self-government and security, all for nothing.

Thank you very much Lisa. You are right, 20 years were almost wasted but at least women were treated well while American troops were there but now they go back to the nightmarish life. I really feel bad for all of them but especially for women. I appreciate your time and review.

I love your poem, but am sad about the situation in Afghanistan. Despite the Taliban's recent promises, I fear for the safety of those left behind as we evacuate. Praying, especially for the women. Carol

So as not to get depressed,I have stopped watching the news. I am aware of political unrest there. It did not occur to me how women will be impacted. I will send a shield of protection on every level around them. You will raise awareness with this account, just as you did mine.
Thank you.

I remember a Doctor friend of mine, who served with the Australia forces in Afghanistan say when the allies eventually leave, they would quickly go back to where they were. It's come to pass, we have many Afghans here in Adelaide, just ordinary people, they may have work it out. There are so many fractured countries with myriads of refugees, it's frustrating, it goes deep into mankind's psyche. If other countries had interfered in the American civil war which claimed as many lives (621,000) as every other theatre of war cost American lives, would they have been happy? It's wicked, Afghanistan has been occupied since 1979, they haven't changed, sorrow...manifold, prayer will work better. Blessings Gypsy. Roy

A fitting poem for what is going on in Afghanistan now. I read an account today where a woman was killed because she was not wearing a burka. My prayers go out to the people in that country.

You are welcome. Terrible reports coming from that country today, hard to believe people can be so cruel.
