What a great chapter you've written! And you left hanging in suspense for the showdown between Grant and his mother. You are very gifted not only at writing, but story-telling. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Oh, the suspense! I'm glad Grant understood why Gladys did what she did, but I want to see what happens when they come to arrest his mother and brother. I can't wait!

Superb! I'm so glad Grant didn't take it out on Gladys. The poor woman had obviously been a dedicated member of staff for many years, and the fact that Grant appreciated what a difficult situation she'd been put in only proves what a decent guy he is.
I can't wait to find out how Grant's mother and brother react when they find out they've been conned by the call from Rapier. Hopefully they'll both be put away for years!

Thank you so much, Alexis! I'm so pleased with the way everyone has liked the way Grant treated Gladys. The next part will be fun, but not for everyone!! Thanks so much for the six shiny stars, my friend. I really appreciate all your support. Love and warm hugs! :)) Sandra xxxx

I'm so good! LOL - I knew something was up with Gladys and that it wasn't her fault.
I like the quick pace of the story here as there are loose ends to tie up before the next crisis arises (Rapier).
Perfect end to this chapter!

I know, I had to smile when I read your last review, and knew you would when you read this part. It had to be Grant's mother who blackmailed her into doing it. Thank you so much, Ryma, for another of your lovely reviews, and for the golden sixth star. That was so kind of you. Keep that thought about the Rapier crisis on mind! lol. Warm hugs, dear friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Sandra:

Well done, Max Rapier, well done. I just hope Grant has not rushed into his mother's home too far ahead of the police as I'm sure neither she nor Colin would hesitate to do him bodily harm. I'm sure he wants to see the look on their faces when he tells them Tania is alive.

Great job with this post! So glad that things are wrapping up and that Grant's mother and half brother will face justice! I really liked that Grant provided for Gladys and his compassionate response to her forced betrayal of him.

What a place to leave us! I hope Grant doesn't get shot or worse although I'm not sure what 'worse' could be. lol

Well written as always. I do have a few suggestions:

That was a few years ago, so what could possibly have happened to cause you to leave like that? Did Janet die? But that wouldn't have had you leaving without notice. Well, you won't get your answer sitting here. Grant unclipped his seat belt and got out of the car. - the last sentence shouldn't be in italics.

Now the tears were streaming, Gladys blew her nose, and then, once she started talking, all her fear, stress and anger came away. - replace comma after 'streaming' with a period.

It's what anyone would have done; hell, I would have done it, for crying out loud! - replace comma after 'done' with a period.

'Oh! No, it weren't your fault, Mr Blake!' The very idea that he would blame himself was just too much for her. - I might have said 'for Gladys'

Grant looked at her, she had to be well into her sixties. 'You know you can have your job back, it's yours for the taking. - replace comma after 'her' with a period.

'My grandfather set up pensions for all our employees, Gladys, even before it became law to do so,' he told her, smiling, - typo at end - should be a period

'Oh, Mr Blake. What can I say? I didn't know! Are you sure? I'm a volunteer at the nursing home just so's I can be with my sister more. Are you really sure? I'll come in until you have someone else. Oh, Mr Blake, I've been that scared, I don't know what to say!'

Don't worry about the replacement, we can soon get that sorted. - replace comma after 'replacement' with a period.

'You were right, Lorna's office was bugged.' - replace comma after 'right' with a period. Somewhere near this point, I think you need to mention that Lorna is in the office too. Maybe 'Back at the office, Grant was met by Lorna and a grim-faced Reg.'

'It's no more than she deserves for what she'd done,'Lorna told him. - space needed before 'Lorna'

Best wishes
Judy

I can't help feeling a little satisfied that both Colin and Marilyn will be parting the scene for a very long holiday in a resort for erstwhile criminals, I can picture mother being bullied by professional female thugs, heh heh. Beautifully written, isn't it nice how kind Grant was to Gladys, wow, 25 times her salary, I'm going to apply for employment as a cleaner there! Well done, blessings Roy
Query : Wasn't Colin Grant's half brother Sandra.

This is a superb chapter, Sandra. It actually made me smile. It's so well written, and I would have liked to be a fly on the wall, when Grant walked into his mother's. You really bring forward the evil in those two persons. Now, I can't wait to see what is happening next. A big hug.Ulla xxxx
