Acidophobia: Fear of 'Tripping'
Terrorized: Fruit punch spiked with LSD?28 total reviews

Hi Liz :)
I enjoyed reading your post.
It must be absolutely terrifying to think that you might have accidentally consumed something like that. You can't exactly unswallow something, apart from making yourself puke, which wouldn't necessarily bring up what you swallowed.
So glad to read that it was the excess of pasta and fruit-punch that made you feel strange and nothing more sinister...
Best wishes as always, Debra

As regards "windowpane"--if you get a chance, check out the note I added (in the text).
Also, note that I have Acidophobia in both senses of the term!

I'm with you. I can't abide the smell of marijuana. I read a novel in which one of the characters grew the product and had a shop that sold marijuana and products that included it. She had an admirer who loved the smell of it in her hair. Remind me not to read anything else by the author. Your fear of eating or drinking something with marijuana in it was funny. It's understandable. I remember what it was like in the 1970s. judi

We lived in MA in the 1970s, and sometimes what was going on on Boston Common and Harvard yard was like a circus. judi

Liz,
Great write. How many phobias do you have? You ever hear about the friendly mint bowls that have urine on them?
Better buy a water filter...aside from the flouride, pharmaceuticals and depending on your State...liquefied corpes in their sewer system..."they" have spoken of adding lthium to the water to subdue the masses.
After that, be sure to scrub down all your produce...better buy organic. Read whether you are buying 4000, 3000, or 9000 fruit and vegetables...would not want to buy GMO...Now humans are genetically modified by an experimental vaccine...so what would it matter?
And...after reviewing and mentioning water quality I came upon this video

Lol. Oh my goodness! You got me scared, too! Now that's a sign of a good writer! Well, I'm glad it wasn't spiked but I can't believe a high schooler would have been able to get LSD, or could they?
When did you visit the West Coast? That must have been a family vacation?

I wasn't there--these were hyped-up scare stories spread by the media.

I can understand how you would have been scared out of your mind at that age, Liz. You did a great job setting the scene with precise wording and great, and personal, examples. I have never heard of that word, but it makes sense. Today, we have to worry about someone with a gun at WalMart, rather than spiking the punch.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

What a gem of a story. That earned my six! I lived through that era myself. I was a little older. I'd heard all the same hype (a lot of it similar to what's going on about the Covid vaccinations). The only difference was that, being older, and fancying myself as a writer/poet, I wanted to--and did-- experiment with LSD. The same paranoic panic you went through I went through while on a "trip" in LA, at my hippie friend's pad. I wrote a story about it and still have it somewhere.
Thanks for posting this. A lot of folks don't realize what a phenom Timothy Leary was.

I think you might both be right about windowpane. It seems I remember about headies licking the windows for the acid sheeting it.

Sounds plausible. Upon my reflection last night, it occurred to me that some ingenious nut job decided to play off the term windowpane and make it real.

Your definition for acidophobia might be slightly different than the one you found on the internet, Liz. I think they should include it. When I started working in Toronto as a Legal Secretary, my roommate and I were invited to a party that turned out to be nothing like we expected. When the brownies were passed around we declined. I feared most of getting caught in such a place, and losing my job. lol Fun read! Thanks for sharing.

Now you can look back and think about all the things you missed out on in life by being afraid of what you knew little to nothing about. Me, not so much. I didn't want to miss out on anything in life so, I tried it all. And truthfully, I have no regrets. Well, not many. Thanks for sharing.

I have had quite a colorful life...windowpane was a fact of life in my high school...along with those who actually didn't have a clue about it...windowpane was easlily transportable...and in fact could be left at the bottum of a glass and fluid added....
Hey ho...I never did try it...I preferred tequelia, vodka and somrthing called snakbit or Hyderized.(an alcohol that came with a warning not to get it near open flame)...it was odorless because once opened it dissapated quickly...you opened the wee bottle chugged it down and were all set for Spanish class...or Algebra....

Liz,
You goof. I find it hard to believe that those hippies had enough of the stuff to spike every restaurant in the city, right? I know - your fear was that THIS restaurant was the one. The mind is a powerful thing. I imagine that was some crazy times and big fear. Thanks!
