Sorry for the loss of your parents. Your story depicted a difficult decision of giving something once treasured by you and a loved one. I wish you the best in the contest.

A very nostalgic writing! I think that your farmhouse triggered my memories of how we sold my Mother's house that my Grandfather built so that she could come and live with us. Sadness, peace of mind, keepsakes, and lasting memories never leave us! I truly like the phrase, " the matriarch of my heart"! Your keepsake was a globe, mine was a miniature kerosene lamp that my Grandmother used a long time ago!

This is so well done. I think this story is bound to be a big vote getter. It is sentimental and emotionally told with a theme most readers would relate to. Who does not have precious memories of a loved grandparent? The snow globe was a brilliant touch to conclude the story. Good luck. Not that you need any. I liked this a lot.

Awww, MissMerri, you are so very kind! I appreciate the time and attention you have given to this story. You?ve brightened my morning.
Yes, I have many fond memories of my grandparents, and I?m glad it came through in my tale!

This is a good finish to this farmhouse contest. I agree that it is difficult to decide what to get rid of and what to keep. I like the touch of keeping the Christmas globe as a keepsake. It's something that I would have chosen to keep. Good luck with the contest!

Thank you, Patty, for the lovely review. I think a lot of people have that favorite thing, or things, that different family members can relate to. I?d have gone for the globe, too!
Thanks again,
Rhonda

I enjoyed this very much and it has my vote! But...I'm wondering, did he really need to sell the farm??? ;) very nice! Good luck.

Thanks so much for the review and vote. They are both deeply appreciated!!
I had him sell the farm because so many people end up having to, even when it isn?t what they want. Very hard choices, I assure you. Thanks for presenting a different point of view, and a different direction I might have taken.

You?re welcome. I?m just a sucker for farms with big ?ole farmhouses! 😊

I?m with you on that one. I live on a farm and love it!

A nice story filled with real emotions. It's hard to go thru a parent's home one last time before selling it. The memories, if physical, wouldn't fit in an 18-wheeler. I'm glad he found the keepsake he wanted.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It is hard trying to decide what to keep, when all you really want to keep is them.
I imagine it would be hard in an 18 wheeler....

This is a truly beautiful entry for the contest. I love the sense of how dear this grandmother was to Edward and how, in finding the globe, He was at peace to sell the house.
