I think the second world War improved our ways of obtaining information and spying, and covert operations were much more productive than interrogation. Employing people for their talent rather than their patronage was unique as in England it was always about jobs for the boys, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

I like this a lot. Your writing is supremely professional! I feel like I'm sitting in my living room with your story in front of me; I turn each page eagerly. This is what I dream of; good writing that all can enjoy. I would like to make an observation, however.
Some of the dialogue seems a bit too long. What is being said is good, but I think that making it just a little shorter, while still retaining the pertinent information, would make it better. You have tremendous talent, so I could see this as something you could do.
Just a thought. I almost feel ashamed at critiquing such a grand piece of work. Let's just say that you're the model that I go by when I try to improve my writing. Cheers!

Thank you so much for this review. This is a conversation between a lawyer and an army general. Do you wonder that they go on too long? Lol.
Joking apart, I will bear your comment in mind.
-
Thank you for your graciousness, my man. The piece is so good! And, yes, a general and a lawyer having a conversation might just be a soporific in the hands of a lesser talent than you. Cheers!

Mmm, and we just have two guests to be interested so Mr. Lawyer has the chance to prove himself useful and also to feel that is participating in the war. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

Yes, I can see how you're pulling some of this together, and it looks interesting. Your Peter Allen is a very clever man, and I look forward to seeing him continue his work in future chapters.
Some minor suggestions:
His compaion, the rear gunner,
-->
His companion, the rear gunner,
'You're not talking about intelligence work are you, Pat?
-->
'You're not talking about intelligence work, are you, Pat?
Of course, that kind of thing also continues in war time,
-->
Of course, that kind of thing also continues in wartime,
It needs somebody more senior to run it,
-->
'It needs somebody more senior to run it,
***
I also look forward to getting back to the Bache family, which I'm sure you'll do, at the right time.

whew! this is a lonnnnng war story, but very interesting. My Dad fought in the Iwo Jima battle off of an LST ship. Came home safe and sane, thank the Lord. I did my time in 7 years of Iowa Nationl Guard - Boxed for my unit, received special attention because of doing so,

Thank you for reading and reviewing this part of me novel.

It is interesting that Allen is able to manipulate General Wilson into suggesting the opportunity that he was interested in preforming. Lawyers are likely good at that. He has the gut instinct to get what he is after from the right person. I look forward to seeing what information he will obtain.

PANTYGYNT:
I've known people who go house-to-house to try to convince people they are in need of the services they have to offer. They just make me nervous. To Peter Allen, I say, "Bravo!"
I believe that Attorney Venables will be surprised what the German rear guardsman will want in exchange for his knowledge about the information his pilot has. This should become very interesting.

Such people as you mention are a nuisance. In court however when you employ one you are glad of that skill. Many thanks for your review.

Well I enjoy history and you, Jim, seem to enjoy war history. Good story of the 15 that Alan is heading up. Williams seems to think he has the right man for the job with his interrogation skills and experience in the court room. Also, Alan just wants to serve in someway to help the war effort. Will look forward to reading your chapters on Sundays!

This whole sequence of novels has been placed in a historical setting. It is an unfortunate fact of life that history is punctuated by wars. Although this is not really a war story it is inevitable that many of the incidents take place against a background of war.
Many thanks for your review.

So, Peter Allen is still engaged in the Second World War, as an intelligence officer engaged in the interrogation of German prisoners, but I think, he'd be much more interested in German NCO, than the Lieutenant, a nazi, he would be worth far more information wise...but those mysterious papers, although possibly out of gate now. Well done Jim, great post. Blessings Roy

Excellent! Some may not appreciate or even grasp how well you laid the groundwork. The amount of detail produced so well, it bordered on being semi dull to the one unaware of where you were going. Even the inclusion of Peter Allen from earlier chapters was on point. Added to all of this was the use of the chap who had work with Peter Allen, adept at garnering information from lower level personnel and the likelihood of cooperation from Hans Brucker, neatly ties everything into a neatly constructed bow. Tada.
