Yes, all you have to do is put in a name on the web, and you will find it on a lot of sites. I think some legal sites are sat up so all you have to is put a name in.
This is a true story. I hope people will enjoy reading it.

The "Name Game." What truly is in a name? Darned if I know, other than a way to reference or address someone. Then back in 1964 Shirley Ellis co-wrote and sang a song called the "Name Game." Where she used a consistent process on names to make them rhyme. No real reason or purpose other than just having fun. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your review comments. I well remember the name game. I was entertained for many hours trying to master the process.

My Korean born nephew, a doll, is named Nolan. It has become very popular with the millennials. My name has been resurrected too. I've met more girls and ladies named Sally than ever.

Nolan is Gaelic and it means champion. A great name for you, Nomi dear. Sending you my best and blessings always,
Sally (God's Princess) :))

It is not every day that a commoner like me is blessed by God's Princess. Thank you so much. You are appreciated.

    The blessing is mine. :))

A slightly different topic (which this writing made me think of): My granddaughter's name is Kaitlin. There are literally hundreds of ways to spell this name. When someone spells her name correctly, she rejoices!
This is an excellent piece of descriptive/explanatory writing. You have used specific details to convey what you went through as one of very few Nolans to one of thousands!

Thank you. It is refreshing when someone who does not even know you , pronounces and or spells your name correctly. You would probably gasp to know how many times I have been addressed as Norman, Roland, Nate, Noel, etal. I just answer as if it were my preferred way of being addressed.

My last name is Canerdy. One time I received a mailing addressed to "Miss Canada"! LOL1

Nolan Miller. A fine name. Now I know where Nomi comes from. Names become such an integral part of our psyche. It can be quite confronting when we find we share a name with someone we don't like or don't approve of. I enjoyed the personal glimpses you shared with us here.

Thank you. I am intrigued by your pen name. I am too well trained however, to ask a question you may not choose to divulge the answer to.

Dear Nolan Miller, what a great story! It reminds me of my very rare first name which people would pronounce funny. I got comfortable with it realising its unique nature only in my 20s. I enjoyed this narration and went on this well told journey while you navigated through various situations involving your namesake! You should be proud of yourself Nolan!
Bravo!
My best, DJ

Thank you for your very encouraging comments. I appreciate you very much. Whoever named you was either in possession of a great sense of humor, or wanted to make sure you learned how to fight.

Even my name I thought wasn't common, but I can still find lots with my name, my surname is a very common Welsh name, (my paternal grandfather was welsh, and spoke it.) but what an interesting story, like you, I'm not particularly enamoured, concerning my name, but my Christian name is surprisingly uncommon. Beautifully written brother, excellent job, blessings Roy

Thank you Brother. A much bigger question is of course, what kind of name do you have with Jehovah? Does your name mean anything to him, is it that of a true follower, or is it viewed as an opposer?
reply by royowen on 04-May-2021
Yes, that?s the good thing, He knows my name.

I enjoyed your post. You're absolutely right, a name isn't as important as the character. I just find it difficult that your father named you, Doris.
Were you teased growing up? Nolan was a good choice.

He wanted to name me Doris, but my mother went against it. Might I add This sailor named Doris was a huge man. I have been undersized all of my life. I would have had to be one heck of a fighter with a name like Doris.

Names really are strange. When I published my first children's book, I checked out my name. Sandra Mitchell. There are thousands, and many a lot more intelligent than me. So, then I looked up Sandra Stoner, my married name with my late husband. Again, there were so many, it boarded on the ridiculous. Now, my books are published under the name, Sandra Stoner Mitchell, which I am the sole owner of!! It serves me well because it's nice to have my late husband and my now husband's name on my books. Not only that, my children who are Stoner's and all my friends that know me as Stoner, know it's my book. You made me smile reading this. But there is only one truly lovely Nolan Miller, and that is you! Well done, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xx

This is a good write. Made me chuckle in a few places throughout. I told my parents when I was younger that I didn't like the name Erika. My mom replied, "Well, we were going to name you Ursula." I thought she was joking, but turns out she was serious. Ha! Then I thanked them for bestowing me with my name.

Remember to always be careful of what you ask for. I thought I wanted to be named Steve, I even used the name when I was overseas when I would meet different females. I eventually got tired of the ruse and started using my given name.
