My son-in-law would flip for this one. I have to give him pecan pie at all the family dinners, but he's the only one who eats it.... so off to his house it goes. I think that's always his plan. LOL Smiles, Carol

well, it's an easy one to make, and quick. and of course, non fattening.

I can feel the pounds piling on even as I'm reading. I love pecan pie, but I've never seen it with a topping. As you mentioned, small portions of this would be preferred. Who's to say that this isn't important? Eating is one of the great pleasures in life, and I think God meant for it to be enjoyed. Look at all that he created, the colors, the diverse flavors, the combinations of ingredients to come up with a new flavor. Not important indeed. Take a look at Americans now and what we looked like in the sixties. I would say that eating is at the top of the list of important things. Well done gal.

    Thanks, Tom
you're right there. I remember one of the major basketball teams came here to play our Spurs, and when they got home, their star player said he'd never seen so many fat people in his life. And it's true. But anyway, thanks for such a wonderful review and comments.
I enjoy cooking. which is a good thing.
We are having the most glorious cool weather lately, which I am savoring before the heatwave onslaught.

It does sound yummy. You come up with the most unusual crusts, too! I liked your poem and I'm glad that you found some creative way to deal with the news - bake!

thanks. this one actually doesn't have a crust, per se, the meringue with nuts is the pie. It really is gooey good.

I love to bake, so I'm always thrilled to see a good recipe. I also love to write rhyming poetry, so I'm impressed by anyone who can combine those two loves as you did. I fully enjoyed your rhyming recipe instructions. Im not particulary a pecan (and thus pecan pie) fan, but you did make the pie look and sound delicious.

Thank you for a fun poem, and I personally think dessert is a very important subject about which to write a poem!

thanks so much, Michele for your very kind comments. You and my daughter and pecans. I don't understand it. ah well, I'll probably be posting another before this poem a day deal is over. :) something nutless.

If you have a poem on how to roll out a pie crust without it's sticking to the roller, despite rolling the roller in flour, I'd be thrilled! Maybe, if I read it in rhyme, I'd actually be able to follow it properly.

Michele, I had to laugh because even though I make some pies, I don't "do" dough crusts. Mine always stuck, too. I usually make vanilla wafer, graham cracker, or chocolate wafer - crushed -crusts. If I want a regular crust, I buy one.
I don't know what kind of pies you like to make, but maybe be inventive and try a different kind of crust. and if it doesn't turn out good, I didn't suggest it. :)

    Don't worry, I didn't hear a thing!

I actually have a recipe for a really good key lime pie that has an easy pat-in-the-pan crust but, for regular fruit pies, I think a typical crust is probably expected, and maybe won't leak through as easily - although I do cheat with a streussel crumb topping because I am not trying a double-crust pie!!!! 😀

Says the person who showed a pie beautifully topped with whipped cream swirls. I gained 10 lbs. just looking at it!

My ultimate favorite dessert is buttercream cake and, if my family doesn't treat me to it, I will!

Are you writing a book for deserts in poetic form? That will be interesting to see, pecan pie to die for it. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.
