Great job on this poem. I like the line "painting and weaving words from within." It so perfectly fits with the picture you have chosen. Like you, I had only written rhyming poetry before, but am seeing so many different varieties of poems on here, that it makes me want to experiment.

Great theme well incorporated in this reverse nonet.

Hard to tell on my smartphone which doesn't display the layout properly, but I think you've used the poetic devices you speak of, including enjambment, to fine effect .
