This free verse poem gives a clear hope mate of the church at her funeral. It showed everyone knew what made her happy. She must have had Avery good sense of smell and knowledge of flowers. You seem to infer she might of had Altzheomer's. Good entry for the club

Oh my, this is just lovely - brought me to tears. I am aging and dreading losing my "senses" - so far so good, but your poem reminded me of what could happen. I love flowers and so enjoyed this poem's reverence for them. When the Master takes me home I shall find Billie in her garden and ask if I can join her. Exceptionally good poetry...

That was so lovely to read. I could see all the beautiful flowers, smell the different scents as you described them all so vividly. I do believe they smile down on us, and see what's happening. Well done, you met the challenge of the Fabulous Free Versers Club with this delightful poem. :)) Sandra xx

When my sister-in-law's mother (who LOVED her flower) was dying, she would gaze up at the ceiling, smile, ans see "Oh, look at the pretty flowers." Your poem is a beautiful, moving, vivid blend of literal and figurative language.

Sorry, we miss Billie. What she has left behind flowers that blossom year after year like the poem says: "...such an awesome sight ... to see a sea of flowers that... became so alive with vibrant colors... mixing and twisting each floral fragrance..."
This sight is so beautiful like the picture. A bright spring time.
Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed this excellent poem, which was both creative and moving. The free verse style suited it - I could imagine it being read aloud. You wrote it very well, with thoughtfulness and love.

Your well written first stanza was the one that pulled me into your very touching poem:
"Billie would have been eighty-eight in June ...
However, she was called by her Master before
all her spring flowers were in bloom."

Now it's been a day of reading tributes. Reading all this brings smiles, tears, emotions, and all you can think of. Many thanks to writers and poets like yourself who possess such great talents in storytelling ad embellishing memories. I read and enjoyed this poem.
Many thanks for sahring. Blessings!
PS: You may want to read these lines carefully again, and where possible make it much clearer to the reader:
scent of a rose and closer to her nose a wafting
smell of lemon grass became honeysuckle,
to her most certain claim of fragrance.
