I enjoyed your happy and nostalgic reminiscences. I am glad I had the opportunity to hear the rich voice of Rou Orbison. I still have my collection of 78rpm, 45rpm and the 33 rpm records with original covers! Both Western and Indian. Jukebox too was very popular among the young in 'those' halcyon days! Thanks for sharing a lovely write!

He did have a great voice. I didn't really know him that well but I knew some of those songs. I often confused his voice with Elvis's but I think Roy's voice was deeper. Elvis had more charisma on the stage. Just my opinion.

I remember Roy Orbison, but not this particular song. It's pretty good. I had a stack of 45's too, and I'm sure I'll recognize most of your top 50. We might even have a few in common.

Comment from Gloria ....
What a novel idea, Sally. Jukebox favourites definitely sets a time frame, and I do remember those 45s. Musical technology has come a long way since those days.
And yes, we are what we read and definitely listen to, and what's not to love about Roy Orbison.
Superb idea, and one more thing, can we make requests?
A most enjoyable read this evening.

Joyful and poignant reminiscences--I was hoping to see cited my absolute favorite of his--Sweet Dreams. The lyrics are insipid but I find the tune irrestible. Charming piece, evocative of the days of record players!

Sally,
Roy really does have a golden voice. I liked him in the Traveling Willbury's.
You've written a novel presentation for a book. Lol no pun intended. Excellent presentation.
Good luck with all your writing.
Hugs,
Cindy

My record player was tan, I think. We brought it with us when we'd sleep overnight in a tent in our front yard. We used to bring it out with us on a long extension cord. It was a regular indoor extension cord. It guess it having to run through the wet dewy grass made it so that whenever anyone touched it, it'd buzz and shock the person. We took turns changing the record, taking turns getting zapped and everyone laughing except the record changer. They made more of a howl or shrieking sound. I love Roy Orbison...this is going to be fun
