On a Sunday afternoon, while my in-laws were visiting.
Smiling proudly with his chest puffed out.
I think these sentences need commas instead of periods to make them flow
What a story! Out of the mouths of babes. Good luck with your contest. I enjoyed your sons escapades. Thanks for sharing.

This is a potential winner. The ending is priceless. I can hear the little voice saying, "It means . . . " I knew a toddler who had problems with the word truck. It delighted us young teens to ask him what he had brought us from across the room.
A couple tiny things. After mother-in-law, I believe you should say who, not which, unless you really want to dehumanize her. Also, I think "three years older" should be hyphenated.

I don't think this story needs the caveat at the beginning, just get into the story. Maybe your authorial voice want to apologies for the language that's about to be used, but there's no need in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing, good luck.
