What a wonderful tribute to JoanE aka Joan Stern, Robyn. She definitely was an amazing woman, who determinedly made a fantastic career after she retired. It was an endearing memory for sure. Well done and I am sure Bob and the family will appreciate it.

-A lovely image and
beautiful tribute to Joan, Robyn.
-She would enjoy the overview
of her writing career.
-I didn't know she had achieved
so much distinction with her writing,
but then she was never one to
broadcast it.
-She brightened our writing community
with all of her travels and wisdom that
she deftly composed in her short verses.
-Thanks for sharing this; she is missed very much.

I know when Elaine retired, quite early, at 52, the first words she uttered were "What am I?" She had an identity crisis, she'd Been a teacher and faculty head for many years, the kids were married, the younger a couple of years later. But she soon found. Thanks for sharing, I didn't know these things, beautifully written Robyn, blessings Roy

I've been reading various tributes to this remarkable-sounding woman and feeling a bit envious of all of you who knew her and with whom she shared her writing. This tribute adds another piece to the rich tapestry of her life. I hope that by reading her work, I will get a glimpse into her as well.

This is a beautiful tribute, Robyn! I didn't know very much about her life. She reviewed for me a few times in the far distant past and I always valued her insight and encouragement.
You did a lovely job. I didn't find any errors and wouldn't change a thing.
Blessings and hugs,
Deb

I had just gotten to know Joan in the last few years, so I am learning much about what a wonderful contribution she made to FanStory over her years here. I truly enjoyed her train travels and postcards from abroad. Her visual art was also exceptional.
Thank you for sharing this brilliancy:
good ending--
too bad it didn't start
sooner in the play
-Pieces of Her Mind Anthology, 2012
That brought a real smile to my face.
Terrific tribute to an amazing woman.

This is a good tribute to her. I never had any contact with Joan on FS. I live in a very small circle here. I don't get around much. I have read a few of the tributes and she sounds like a wonderful person.

Educational and warmly done, this short biography about Joan. No grammatical issues that I could tell. It always amazes me how you and a few others here on this site know or find out more long-term details about people in such a friendly way. Thank you for posting this one.

Wow! You taught me about Joan! I got to know her only in the last couple of years and so I had no idea. Tony told me about the anthology she was published in. Now I know what a fabulous artist she was outside of Fanstory. Thank you!
No worries! I copied and pasted your wonderful writing in the document I'm sending Bob!

Thanks so much! Yeah, the anthology Tony mentioned was the one she and I worked on together. That's where we met.
