I had a nurse that came to administer steroids at my house. They left the one part of the needle in my arm for three days. But I had too much energy. I was buzzing around like a crazy person getting shit done. They needle dug and dug and eventually caused me so much pain, I almost ripped it out myself.
Extreme mood swings are a part of MS, I go through phases where I absolutely cannot take loud sounds, I think they poke my soul. It's nuts. And I yell to combat the feeling felt by loud sounds(irony? Lol).
I feel for what your daughter is going through, she's lucky to have a mother like you, that would march her to the nearest lawyer's office. Lol.

I rationalize that my daughter would have had a mitigating factor for her rage; how convenient for me to construe an excuse when it's MY daughter.

I can feel the pain you are going through. My brother in law has Multiple Sclerosis and he is in denial. Where most sufferes would be in a wheel chair by now, he refuses to use a walker, he falls a lot. My wife is beside herself with worry. Your write, essay has brought out our sympathy for her and you, hang in there Dear.

I did more than my share of steroids for years and even stacked them for months on end. Mine weren't for medicinal purposes, I worked out with Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk) on Venice Beach and wanted to look just like him. They do alter our dispositions, but those horn blowers need an attitude adjustment. Next time, give her the tire tool. And you don't have to worry, Lauren won't catch the chicken-s____ bastard. He'll speed away. Thanks for sharing.

The first thing I got out of this is that the treatment must be helping physically if not emotionally because Lauren was able to drive herself for treatment. The second is no matter what we think we would do when we look at what other parents have done, when it comes down to what our own children might actually do, we want to protect them. In this case, if it had happened, you could have said the steroids were to blame. She should be careful about flipping off a driver, they might be on steroids too.

She was able to drive herself when hopped up from the prior day, but when they wore off over the weekend she couldn't--she's barely walking.

I think you have reason. I?d be angry if it were mine

Oh, geez, Elizabeth. You and your daughter both are facing some tough challenges. And not having a viable choice in taking the steroids, she doesn't have a choice in her fits of rage. That's gotta be tough on both of you. My heart goes out to both.

Compassion much appreciated! Thanks for stopping by.

The difference being? In the first instance just a confession. In the second instance a set of circumstances with the catalyst being the illness and the infusion of steroids?

I rationalize that the difference is that my daughter would have had a mitigating factor for her rage, but my point is it's convenient for me to construe an excuse when it's MY daughter.

She drove herself to this last treatment? Wow, you're dealing with a lot of emotion. Sorry that she has to deal with all those steroids and I hope that CD didn't have any adverse effect! Good thing she didn't attack the bad driver behind her. Whew. Hope she can get some rest and hope you do, too!

Yes, she drove today--Chuck is taking her to an annual cognitive appt tomorrow.

That is an interesting premise that a regrettable incident was averted by the presence of ice. I was always under the impression ice could cause things to go south (make that north) in a hurry, especially when it is on the street.
