This is a great story and it had me hooked from the very beginning.

I noticed one typo:
Excited about the new arrival, my support group decided to make baby clothes. Soon, the child had a wardrobe bigger than Alejandro and I's (mine) combined.

I'm really sorry I've missed so much, Misty, I'll have to go back and read them all. This was really sad. The same thing happened to me, for the same reason, my son was early, but he lived to be the strapping 6+footer he is 46 years later. But, will Anna be alright? I do hope so. Anna's condition forced her to go to hospital to have her baby delivered, even though it's against her wish. She had to keep her pregnancy in secret. Now it's going to be known.
