Oh, I like this. It does make me kind of melancholy. Really well done with great rhyme and meter. I still don't get that right a lot of the time, but getting better. I hope you do well in the contest.

Ciao Sugarray !
Weeping willows are my all time favourite trees .. they conveys sadness ..and I m a gloomy person .. (I love films with sad ending too)
its arched , dangling ,drooping branches they seem in mourning
And when they are swaying in the breeze / wind , I always imagined hearing whispering voices of people that have passed and have secrets they want to tell me ..
So your poem does a brilliant job in conveying what a willow trees represents to me ..
last year I wrote a poem about a weeping willow but I deleted by mistake all my notes on a very old mobile ..
..it was about a child growing up under the family's willow tree .. all the different stages of her life , her first puppy love , etc
And this willow trees was alive and happy to be able to witness her growth and then it was sad cause she died
PS: I love the pastel colours in your artwork but the willow tree itself is not ( at least for me) that graceful ...
but that isn t going to stop me from giving you a well deserved six star vote!

Yes a lovely poem filled with a tangible sense of wistfulness and longing - 'tug our hearts away'- willows have a fascination all their own- and a lovely pic

Hello Helen. Thank you. I thought perhaps I had used too many W words. But... it is already posted, so here we go :)

I think that's cool to have the 'w' sound as it gives a kind of whispering blowing sound.

You won already, Melissa. Why those that write in the contest after reading your poem will cast their vote for you and forget that they play. :) I'm not kidding, woman. This is an excellent entry for the 3-6-9 poetry contest. Thank you for sharing.

I felt the reflection in these words, the memories we think of when we see trees swaying in the breeze and we see time passing and seasons coming and going without our loved ones, much enjoyed Melissa, love Dolly x

I love this poem and it "tugs my heart away" to the willow with gentle thoughts of our classes together. Your poems are very touching and poetic which is hard to find, I think.
You inspired me to write one of my own and not ready to show yet.
An exceptional piece of poetry.
